Help with Bridesmaids!!!

I was wondering if people could write back with how they asked their friends/sisters to be in their bridal party. Did you do it as a group? Did you ask them individually? Also how important is it to have the same amount of bridesmaids as your future husband has groomsmen? My fiance has 5 groomsmen and I only have 4 bridesmaids in mind...however, there is a 5th that I could ask, although I'm not as close with her as I am with the other 4. What should I do???

awww this is such an exciting time! Congratulations ~ I wanted to originally ask all of the BM together but i would have been impossible ~ So as I saw them I asked each and everyone except my MOH I took her out to lunch! (she thought i was taking her out for her birthday)

I made each one of them a card and I gave them all a scrapbook in different colors ~ at the time I had no clue what my wedding colors were...

or maybe make each girl there favorite cookie or something that they each like with a pretty card with a pretty poem or what there friendship means to you...

I asked with a cute poem that I put into a small photo album (pics in my album).

It's totally unimportant if your # matches FH's number. DO NOT ask people just to have an even number. They will cause you enough stress - only ask those you're certain you want to have in it!

ETA - and I asked my girls individually. FH's sisters I asked a little differently. I asked them at the same time at Christmas - and we gave them photo albums with a note saying 'We'd be honored to have you as bridesmaids in our wedding' or something like that.

I did it individually - i found these adorable little 'will u be my bridesmaid?' cards and got them each a long stem rose

My girls are all over the place - some I even asked over the phone, but most in person.

I didn't do anything crazy special, just a heartfelt expression to them of how much they mean to me, and then simply asked.

Regarding keeping number of GM and BM the same - honestly, I don't think it's a big deal at all. Only ask that 5th girl if you feel comfortable doing so - don't do it out of an obligation, IMHO.

Congrats on getting engaged!!!!! My sister asked me when I was going to ask her!! I asked her over the phone as well as 2 other BM's. Then for 1 other BM and FSIL I asked in person, it just worked out that way. I think I just asked, no poems, no cards. Everyone has done t differently, I asked them all seperately.
I also have a different # BM's than GM's. He has 6, I have 5. I too had 1 other girl I could ask, but we are not as close as we used to be and not as close with her as the rest of my party. I wanted who I wanted, I personally didn't care if it was uneven, just that my best friends were with me.

Have fun asking them!

I asked them all individually. All of them got the same speech except one, my college best friend (MOH).

Ever since I was a little girl I pictured my wedding a certain way. And that certain way had you as my bridesmaid. Will you help my dream come true?
