We are going to the florist on Sat and I need some ideas I want a centerpiece that has roses in a ring with possibly a bowl in the middle with floating candles-- the problem--our package comes with a centerpiece and to upgrade to this look they want to charge $45 -- i think this is high so we priced bowls/candles on our own and the size of the bowl we want to use is quite large/never on sale/ always $7 or so...

Laura I was just at wedding were they had something similar to what you are looking for (I think). There was a ring of flowers Hydrangeas and roses with some berries around three or four tapers of varying height. The whole think sat on a dish of some sort It looked beautiful!
Misha, we went with a Freelance photographer. He was absolutely wonderful the day of my wedding. (10/7/00). I am going to pick up my proof tonight!! I can't wait to see them. I find it much easier than dealing with any of the studios and his work is just as good if not better because of his pride in his work. His name is Lou Donnaruma and he can be reached at 718-835-9568 and tell him I sent you.
Maybe, but in some cases (like the roach), what you don't know CAN hurt you - who knows what else is going on? It's still best to be prepared. I know I wouldn't want my family and friends remembering my wedding as the one 'with the roach'.

Thanks for the ideas--- but question for you -- does the varying height of the candles look odd? I like symmetry and cant picture how this would look-- but we are going to the florist tomorrow so I will use your suggestions and see what they come up with ;-) I didnt realize that hydrangea are expensive--plan on having 4 of the 5 flower girls carrying them as mini bouquets--

It looked beautiful and romantic, the various heights of the candles broke up the flame in the cluster. If all the candles were the same height in this arrangement it may have had too much fire power. Check with your florist and try a few arrangements of candles at home to be sure you like what you see.
Check to see if the town clerk was correct too. I had a friend try to change her SS # to her married name after the wedding, and the clerk insisted on seeing her Visa, because NEW MEXICO (where she was born) was NOT part of the US!!! The clerk had to go check with her supervisor to confirm my friend was right, after she made a bit of a scene, before she would process the paperwork.

We did it-- ended up with ring of roses and blue delphinias around a medium size fishbowl with one floating candle and 2 smaller fishbowls(one on each side) with a floating rose in each-- we think it will look much better on the oblong tables--the other centerpiece was round -- it didnt change the price but gave us a completely different look thanks for the suggestions
