Help! With Dessy dress #2015

I just got the winning bid on this dress on ebay and after I won and paid, the seller emailed me and told me that the cat got to the dress.

I swear, I feel like I am having bad karma with this wedding (not sure if I even believe in that but lately.....it just feels like I'm having all bad luck!)

I think part of the problem with this dress is that it's so cute that even though there were a lot of bridesmaids who wore the dress in black from weddings posted on this board, the dress is too cute to sell!

bummer

I've followed up on all the leads I've gotten so far (eg Centereach, Eden's, etc.) and on the FM I've received also....if anyone has any other tips or leads, you'll make a stress-ed out MOH very happy.

thanks!!

Help! With Dessy dress #2015

This a great site with so many great people with great advice.

I am hoping some of that good advice will come my way with this unrealistic question: I am in a wedding in early September and am looking for a particular bridesmaid dress sooner than August.

It's the Dessy #2015, which seems to be a favorite on this site. (I'm looking for it in black, size 8 or 10--preferably 8).

I know that even with rush shipping, I'm going to get it in August and am wondering if anyone knows of any stores that carry these in stock (or of any sites where you can get them used).

I have been scouring ebay and I even placed an ad on craigslist...so maybe those are my only options, but I thought I would ask you all, since you're more experts than I am.

Thanks in advance!!!

Re: Help! With Dessy dress #2015

Thanks for your help!
I tried all the places suggested (a few on the other boards) and so far, almost every place that you all have suggested has had the dress, and many places were willing to sell the one on the rack to save me time, but sadly, as one in-the-know poster pointed out, Dessy likes to stamp their dresses SAMPLE so that they can't be sold.

Apparently, this is because a lot of the boutiques and salons don't buy the Dessy samples, they get them for free from Dessy. So, the company does whatever they need to so that the salons/retailers can't sell them.

Pretty stupid if you ask me, but well, no one did.

Anyway, if anyone has seen this dress used anywhere, let me know?

Thanks again for all the good tips. This is such an awesome board!!!!

Re: Help! With Dessy dress #2015

Thanks Jantany26 -- I just called netbride and pearlsplace.

They practically laughed me off the phone at pearlsplace and I left a message at netbride.

I have already had a few conversations with people at rk....but no luck so far.

BUT THANK YOU for the suggestions....I haven't completely given up so maybe I will come across a vendor who has a dress that someone ordered and cancelled. I think at this point, that is my only hope with this dress (unless someone on this board wants to sell theirs).

I also looked into buying a different color and dyeing it but apparently, the fabric doesn't really hold dyes well. bummer!!!! I have a 'plan B' dress but it's really not that ideal and the bride doesn't like it.

: ( well, never say never. Thanks again for your help!!!

Did you search on e-bay?
Maybe call some consignment shops?
Good luck!

Thanks Llmama!

Yes, I have been looking on ebay for about a month.
Don't know if you saw my first post, but I actually FOUND the dress on ebay and then after buying it, the seller emailed me & said the cat had ruined the dress.

I just got a call back, actually, from netbride, which was impressive (that they actually call back!) but, as with every single other vendor on the planet, they only order the dresses through Dessy. They don't carry any dress in stock that they can sell. I've tried about 50 stores so far and no luck.

I'm still hoping that someone may want to sell theirs....there are a few on craigslist, but they're the wrong color (I'm looking for 2015 in black)

But thanks again

Find a really good dressmaker and maybe she can make it.

Why did you wait so long to order it?? Seems strange to me.

Re: Help! With Dessy dress #2015

Thanks for the tip.
Yes, it's really annoying to be this last minute. I actually had a different dress, which the bride was happy with, but I waited too long to have it altered and it was ruined by a horrible bad tailor in the city. My sister (the bride) wants me to try to find this one (Dessy 2015) instead of getting another one of the dress I had originally (which can be bought off the wrack at Bloomingdales).

So, that's the reason.

As for having it made by a good seamstress, I'm a little hesitant, given my bad experience, but there is actually a manufacturer in China that sells custom made knock offs on ebay -- of the Dessy #2015 dress.

I'm not sure that's legal, but it also seems a bit sketchy...you know?

#2015 is a popular dress, and there are a lot of them floating around out there, so I was just hoping that maybe someone might be interested in selling. (And I got a couple of offers on this board actually, but they were for colors other than black).

Thanks again for the suggestion though. Do you know of any really good seamstresses?

It's not absolutely the end of the world if I don't get this dress. I already have a backup -- I'm just trying to please the bride, that's all.....

: )

What about buying another color and dyeing it black. Worth a try at this point
