Re: Help with DJ pricing? How much is good to pay?
well it depends, do you want just dj and mc or do you want any extras. Each extra thing you add you have to pay for. For example do you want plasma tv's, photo montage, zap photographer, lighting, percussionist, sax player, 1 or a few of these things? Bc the price of basic package will be very different from adding any extra things

ok well we spoke with 1 guy, who came highly recommended & his price is $4000.00 that includes the DJ, MC, intelligent lighting show, 2 plasma's with photo montage, live percussionist. i forgot whatelse he said it includes. I dont think the price is all that bad I'm just afraid to get jerked.

i had the same things and it was close to $4k so it definitely can be that price. Ive also seen dj's who will give you all that for less so you can definitely shop around more and pay less. I loved the dj company i went with so we did go with that package. Its just up to you, are you comfortable with the price and the company? if so go with them but just know you most likely can get it for a bit less

you can def get better pricing but the ones that are 4k prob are working with better equipment....
we are using fm entertainment... for about 2k we got... ceremony music, steel drums for CH, dj(no mc), percussionist, and a dinner singer.... we skipped out on the plasmas bc i personally dont care for how they look at a wedding, and no lighting bc we're in the daytime

I booked FM too! They have some great packages! The 2 I like best are the Club Lights for 3500 or the Live package for 3000. The Club Lights one is more with lights and technical extras... and the live has more singers etc. I'm still deciding which to do. I met with them, Body Rock and EJ the DJ. EJ THE DJ wanted about 8000 for the same stuff FM wanted in the 3000 range. Body Rock was in the 4000 range. But Body Rock didn't seem as willing to play a more array of songs. I mentioned some things to them and they shot me down so fast. FM was a differenet experience. If you want to go super inexpensive you could cut out all the extras and get a DJ for about 800 to 1500. It all depends on what you want!

I think around 4 thousand for a GOOD DJ isnt bad at all! =)) How do you feel about him? Have you been to any parties or weddings he has done? Do you trust him with your day? Did he have video to show you of his previous work?
The DJ is one of those things that makes or breaks the night and shoul be one of those things on your list that if you have to spend A LIL extra on its WORTH it for quality work! Cause everyone will remember the DJ...

Definitely check out FM - they were so reasonably priced and I was really impressed when I went to the showcase.

i dont think that price is horrible at all. we're getting the same thing except instead of lighting we're just doing ulighting around the room and paying a few hundred less than you.
i would meet with a few more and maybe you can negotiate the original guy a bit
