Help with envelope wording...please!

I have looked at various websites regarding proper addressing of outer and inner envelopes.

Can someone please give me some advice?
I'm bringing the envelopes to the calligrapher after work today!!!!!

Outer envelope...
Mr. & Mrs. John Smith
or
Mr. and Mrs. John Smith

Inner envelope...
John & Jane
or
John and Jane

Thanks so much...

Its really your preference. I like the '&' better.

I had the same question and it seems to be a matter of preference. We used the 'and'.
Just keep it consistent.

I used '&' it's really a matter of preference though. I think 'and' is a little more formal but that might be what your going for...
Either way they'll look great im sure.

Like everyone said, it’s personal preference but I’m going with the ampersand (the “&”) for my own crazy reason:

The ampersand is also used for book and movie titles, such as Harry & Tonto, as well, and in some other proper names. In these cases, & is interchangeable with the word and; the distinction between them is mostly aesthetic. However, in film credits for story, screenplay, etc., & indicates a closer collaboration than and; in screenplays, for example, two authors joined with & collaborated on the script, while two authors joined with and worked on the script at different times and may not have consulted each other at all.[5]

That’s from Wikipedia, and it shows how much of a strange geek I am, lol.

I think 'Mr. and Mrs.' is correct but I didn't like the way it looked, so I used 'Mr. & Mrs'.

As for the inner, that can be informal so either would work. But if you use 'and' on the outer then I'd use the same on the inner and vice versa, just keep it consistent.

So:
Mr. & Mrs. John Doe (outer)
John & Jane (inner)
OR
Mr. and Mrs. John Doe (outer)
John and Jane (inner)

A lot of these 'rules' aren't even known by most people unless they just did this so don't worry about it, no one's going to notice a faux pas.

this is really interesting b/c I didn't think the '&' was interchangeable with 'and' in book titles...I've never seen this in my job and I work with book and movie titles all the time!
(I am a geek as well )
