Help with FSIL

Help with FSIL

My FH and I have started asking our everyone to be in our bridal party. FH really isn't close with his sister, but feels he should have her in the bridal party because he wouldn't want to hurt her feelings. The only problem with FSIL is that she is not dependable and very confrontational. I am afraid that we will not show up or not help with the shower. She is a partier and that is what her life consists of. I understand why FH would want to have his sister, but what should I do?????

Please Help!!!

well IMO its your wedding as well as his and if its impt to have her in it for him then you should ask her.....you are gonna have BMs that are irresponsible ( even the ones who you thought you could count on) so i wouldnt base it just on that .....good luck

how about give her an important but non 'confrontational' role like doing a reading, instead of actually being in the BP? just an idea...good luck!!!

The situation stinks, no matter what you do you're bound to loose anyway so I would go with the option of having her b/c she is family and there is nothing you can do about that. Just make sure you tell your MOH not to count on her for anything....Good luck!!!

I agree with this. Just because she is a sister does not mean she HAS to be in the BP. We decided not to ask one of FH's brothers because he really is not that close with him. We knew it might hurt his feelings, but there were others that FH felt closer with and could not imagine his day without them standing next to him. It is a difficult decision, but it is your day and if the only reason you would ask her is because you feel bad, then you might be better off having her play another important role in your day. Good luck!!

Re: Help with FSIL

If he wants her in, you should just have her. One confrontational bridesmaid won't be the biggest deal, just warn your other friends about her.

honestly, some people have weddings w/o bridesmaids! so having bridemaids, and one that isnt that helpful, won't ruin your wedding.

if she gets confrontational with you, then try to ignore her. you don't want some cranky person to put you in a bad mood!
