Help with Gift

What do I give my friend as a gift: Here is the background:

I am going upstate to a wedding of a very close friend where the liquor will be limited and the food will be buffet style. I will have to spend two nights in a hotel due to the fact that it is very early in the morning and we have to travel to get there. I know for a fact that she is paying less than $50 per person. Her and her FH came to my engagement party (full-bar and catered) and gave me a gift off the registry that cost only $25. That was 12.50 per person gift!! Now, I have to get her a wedding gift. I was originally going to give her $150-$200 cash but then, I KNOW she won't reciprocate and I don't want her to feel like she has to match it. However, I don't technically have that much to give her so to not get the same amount back would bother me. So how much do I give then?

does she have a registry? maybe you should just get her something off of that...

generally, the idea is that you are supposed to pay enough to cover your plate, and if you are generous, then maybe incorporate some of the decor costs into it as well...

it's not really about what you'll get in return though... so i wouldn't think that way. if she's a good friend, i'm sure she'll give you what she can afford.

I was gonna also suggest just getting a gift off her registry

id give her 100-150.... if you want to give cash

the registry is good too but id do the same amt for a gift
