Help with invitation wording, please

We are having a hard time choosing invitation wording. Everyone is sharing the cost of the wedding, and we had originally planned to put both parents' names on teh invitation. My father passed away recently, and it would make me sad to leave his name off the invitation. According to the ettiquette books, I would have to put 'The Late...' if I wanted his name on teh invitation, and I don't like that, either.
We were thinking of the following language:

The families of
Me
Fiance
request the pleasure of your company as they are joined in marriage.

My question is, does this sound like our families are joined in marriage, or FI & I? Can anyone suggest any alternatives? Thanks so much for your help.

Sorry to here about your father.

Did you think about

Together with their parents,
Brides name
and
Grooms name

Try looking in the invitation books for some suggestions.

I happen to like the Names First...Then 'Together with Their Families (or Parents)'
