Help with Invite Wording

Hi,

I need some help with capitalization!!

This is how my invite reads:

Together with their parents
Stephanie F & Andrew M
invite you to share in the celebration of their marriage
Sunday, the eighth of October
Two thousand and six
at half past four o'clock in the afternoon
Sand Castle
Franklin Square, New York

Cocktail and Dinner reception immediately following ceremony

Some samples I have looked at capitalize the word 'reception' and others don't. Does anyone know which is correct??

Also, I am torn between 'The favor of a reply is requested' and the more formal spelling: 'favour'.

Thoughts?? TIA!!!

what about basing your decisions on how formal of an event you are having? if you want it to be perceived as a more formal event, then i'd capitalize reception and use the formal spelling of favor. if not, then i would leave as is.

If you don't capitalize the word reception then I wouldn't capitalize Dinner either. It looks kind of funny that way. Personally, I would write it like this:

Reception immediately following ceremony

I like favor better than favour.

I like favour better and agree with 'Reception immediately following ceremony'

Also, on my invites we made the mistake of writing 'Two thousand and six', when in reality it should be 'two thousand six' (and implies a decimal point...).... not a huge deal, but if you want to change it :)

The only thing I would change (my preference), is your names and were they are listed. I think it would be nicer if your names are listed on the top. Also, 'and' should be spelled out.

Stephanie F and Andrew M

invite you to share in the celebration of their marriage

Really??? All of the invites I have looked at have the 'and' written out!

Now I have to go look at mine..............

Mine say 'two thousand and six' - and I asked my invite company to do all the capitilazation/writing out stuff for me the way they thought it should be done, because I just have NO clue!

I believe it should be half past four in the afternoon
not half past four o'clock.

I believe o'clock is only used when it's exactly on the hour.

also, it should be two thousand six
but everyone writes 'and six'
so do it whichever way you prefer.

I couldn't agree more. The more formal-the more formal the spelling. The less formal - the less formal the spelling.
