Help with invites - no inner envelope!

Help with invites - no inner envelope!

Help!

We're printing our envelopes ourselves and only have an outer envelope. For couples, i'd like to put both their names on (especially when it's my friend that's the wife!).

Do i write 'Mr. and Mrs. Brad and Angelina Pitt'? it seems too long.

If they're not married it would be:

Mr. Brad Pitt & Ms. Angelina Jolie

if they're married and have different names it would be:

Mr. Brad Pitt & Mrs. Angelina Jolie

slight correction on that...

for married:
Mr. Brad Pitt and Mrs. Angelina Jolie
address

for single /living together
Mr. Brad Pitt
Ms. Angelina Jolie
address

(no 'and', seperate lines, and 2nd name is indented-can't do it here)

This is how I did it

I *think* she was referring to a couple that have the same last name.

Usually, you would write it as:

Mr. & Mrs. John Smith

However, I, like you, would prefer to add the woman's name also, especially if it's the one that I know personally. This is how we're doing it:

Mr. & Mrs. John and Jane Smith
or
Mr. & Mrs. John & Jane Smith

I think ettiquette wise it might not be 'proper' but it does make sense to me!

yeah, no woman's name is proper, but it's becuase proper = victorian era proper. Etiquette has not changed one bit in 120 years! (We still consider Emily Post's suggestions from 1922 the rules to live by!)

I agree with you both... I have way too many girlfriends with wonderful professional lives to refer to them as Mrs. John Smith. So, I did exactly what you're doing.... including both first names.

Mr. John Smith and Mrs. Jane Smith.

I only had an outer envelope and put both names... it looked fine.. to be honest they glance at it and throw it right in the garbage. I would save yourself the room though and if they have the same first name make it Mr. & Mrs. John and Jane Smith
