Help with Irish songs

Help with Irish songs

Hi everyone...I'm getting married in TWO weeks and I need some immediate help!!! For those that are having some Irish music at your weddings, can you recommend any songs/bands that would be appropriate for the occasion...fast, upbeat songs that is.

I grew up on the Clancy Brothers and although upbeat, I'm not sure 'Finnegan's Wake' is the best choice for a wedding!!!

Thanks for your help

Finnegan's Wake isn't that inappropriate for a wedding - it's funny actually so I don't see why not.

Boston Rose is a good one - by the Wolfetones, it's a slow one and a bittersweet one but not bad.

Jug of Punch - Clancy Brothers (fun song)

The Holy Ground - Clancy Brothers (I think this is the one that goes at the end 'fine girl y'are!')

My Wild Irish Rose - various artists have sung it

Black Velvet Band - Irish Rovers (this is a good one)

The Unicorn - Irish Rovers

The Rising of the Moon - Clancy Brothers

Saw Doctors are a good band, so are the Corrs, Clannad (for dinnertime), Mary Black, James Patterson.

'I'm on my way' is the song from SHREK...they also sing a great song called 'Let's Get Married', it's a funny 'why the heck not?' kind of song.

They also sing 'Sunshine on Leith' which I really love.

Not to be a know-it-all, but the Proclaimers are Scottish. But Irish & Scottish songs are similiar and I love the song from Shrek.

These are some of the Irish songs we are having: 1. useta love her- by the Sawdoctors(great updeat dance tune)
2.Las Vegas(in the hills of Donegal) by Goats Don't Shave
3. The Irish Rover -by the Irish Rovers
4.Streets of New York- The Wolfetones
5.The Irish Wedding Song- by Andy Cooney
6. Whiskey in the Jar-any version

This is all I can think of for now. The Irish wedding song is slow, but has beautiful words.
