Help with Make-up color choices - pics included w/ poll

Help with Make-up color choices - pics included w/ poll

I had an AWFUL MU trial experience... and ever since then i've been thinking about doing my own make-up. I'm still not sure I'm going to do that but I definitely want to select my own colors and look for it. So I took some pics of 2 occasions I did my MU. The lighting quality is not ideal... sorry for that.

My choices are from either a Blue or Purple family... bright cold colors... they can really make your eyes POP which I love. My BP colors are Royal Blue and I don't want to be too matchy matchy. So this color family is on the table...

Or

Bronze and Maroon colors. These ones have a more sedued (I can't figure out how to spell that word) effect.

I don't know which to go for. Which do you think would be better?

I will have a totally different color hair for the wedding.. it will be brown with LOTS of very blonde highlights. (I sooo miss my highlights!) And I didn't fill in my eyebrows for the bronze pics.

SCROLL DOWN FOR PICS....

I tried to crop them but they still wont post. What do I do to fix them so I can post them?

I'm going to put them in an album for now.

I guess i'll wait for the pics but blue I think is one color that can be hard to pull off. It doesn't go well on alot of ppl, will depend on the blue of course. When I went for my make up trial, I asked her what colors she thought would compliment my skintone best, she said i could do just about any color except blue, that it wouldnt go well on me, and i notice that when i see it on other ppl. Depends on how its blended in also.

I like the bronze colors, but again depends on how its done bc if its all too much bronze i dont like that either.

theres 2 thing you can do

either go to paint, go to image then hit stretch and skew and resize the pic. You will see it says 100% horizontal, 100% vertical. Depending on how big the pic is you can make the percentage 50% on both or sometimes if its a real big pic, i have to do 30% and then after if its still a little too big i do 80%.

Or you can put it in an album, right click the picture and select properties, then just copy the address, go to a post and hit 'insert web image' and paste the address

Ok I put them in an album that's titled... ugh i forgot.. I think it's blue/purples and bronze/maroon. ha ha ha.

they didn't go in the order I wanted them to go in. The 2nd and last pic are the blue/purple. Also the blue and purple pics I took from the webcam so the color might be slightly off..

and I was having lighting issues.

I think I like the blue/purples better but they usually aren't wedding-y... so I think I'm just nervous. IDK. I need opinons!

Thank you Espo! Your always such a help! I just couldn't get those pics to post.

I was def having lighting issues. Hmm.. I'm probably going to have to take all the pics in the bathroom for the lighting I think. I'm sure I will be testing and taking more pics of this. But I just don't know which direction to go in. The warm colors or the cold colors.

I wear make-up all the time... and people are used to seeing it one me... so I didn't want the natural look at all!

Also, I don't know if I mentioned this or not.. but I didn't fill in my eyebrows in the bronze/maroon pics and I don't have on any fake eyelashes for either... but I plan on wearing them.

yeah its very hard to tell with the blue/purple bc i cant see the colors at all and how it really looks on you.

I like dramatic, thats why i also did smokey so i dont think there is anything wrong with it. Depends on how its done of course, but if its done well then looks great.

I would try to take better pics for the blue/purple. Or maybe instead of blue and purple do brown and purple or black with purple.

Actually here is a past LIW bride and from her trial the eyeshadow looks a bit purple-ish. I liked how this looked alot, i think it was mixed with black though

ETA: or if you do the bronze, i would stop the eyeshadow right on the crease and bring it down a little bit and do a highlighting color that is light on the brow bone

Either way I will be wearing black eyeshadow too. I love that look.

And I sooo love the smokey look too. I was just nervous that would be too dark for a wedding. All along, up until Dec I thought I would have a smokey look. And it's still on my mind.

I edited above post, but you responded already so i'll post here.

or do a lighter color on the inside and then use the darker colors for the outside part by the crease

I did have a highlight color on.. but the lighting in my bathroom was like a spotlight! it was sooo bright it was washing out a lot of those details. I also had like 4 other colors on.. and a lighter color towards the inner corners and darker colors on the other end - like in the shape of a sideways V. I think I need to find a new place to take better pics in.

Also, I didn't use any matte colors.. they are all shimmery colors.

I like shimmery colors better but I'm beginning to think they don't show as well in pics as Matte colors do.

What do you think?

sometimes yeah i notice that. After a while the shimmer can look a bit oily. Depends though i guess, i would just try both out. Do shimmery and matte colors and photograph them to see which you like better.

When taking pics, dont take a pic in front of a light, that will mess up the lighting in a pic, its best to stand with the light behind you. This works best with my camera.

yea I think you are right.. both times the lighting was infront of my face. In the blueish color pics I was actually holding up a piece of paper to block out some of the light. And the bathroom light was soooo bright! i couldn't even get a good pic with my eyes open bc between the bright light and a flash going off it was sooo hard.

Ekk... this is difficult. back to square one... doing makeup as I go out and taking more pics before hand. Everything seems to look soooooo great in person and not so great in pics! But the pics are just as important as in person!

how do you do that????? your eyes look so nice!!!! I wish I could figure out how to do my eyeshadow like that!!!

I really can't get a good sense of what the blues/purples look like because of the lighting. I like the bronze/maroon shadow on you, but remembering what you said about us brown eyed chicas, I really want to see what the purple looks like on you!

just remember that your camera is different than a photographers and they will know how to work with the lighting to get the best pic
