Help with MOB dress

I posted this on the BHB board too. I would really love my fellow may brides opinions.. what do you think of and have you ever seen a short MOB dress?

Mom lives in Fla and went looking at a bridal salon. the woman there told her that either way was ok because im getting married during the day. My first reaction was 'well, mom THIS is NY' but I want her to be happy and I know she will get the gown length if thats what I want. I do not want her to look out of place... I am leaning towards the gown length, my BP is quite small and if she's the only one with a short dress

What do you ladies think?

Hmmm I have never seen a short dress but it may look nice, have you seen pics of what exactly she is talking about?

I think it could be ok. Depending upon what it is like. There are some amazing formal suits that are very appropriate for MOB's. There are also some really beautiful cocktail dresses that look very formal.

I say check them out....see how she feels and looks in them!

thanks guys, no I didn't see a pic yet, she was just getting ideas. you don't think she will look out of place walking me down the aisle?

I have never seen this either but maybe the dress is very beautiful!

If she looks nice in it I do not see why not assuming it is suitable for a wedding.

thanks for the input guys. Im still not totally comfortable with the idea, but Im glad some of you feel it's acceptable. If she's still leaning that way I will have her send a picture so I can see. But I think after my reaction last nite (i tried so hard to be calm and not bridezilla-like) she'll be trying on gowns. I just told her I would think about it and see how it feels in a few days, but it would seem a gown is more appropriate.

Hi Dawn, I also replied on BHB. I kind of feel the way you do, and prefer a longer gown for your Mother. BUt the girls gave good advice, ask for a pic. Good Luck

I'm not sure about a short dress, it might be a little too informal. I can be very traditional so I might not be the best person to give advice about this. I would take a look at what she likes, then see how you feel before you say anything.
