Help with my gown...

I have finally found my gown..but have only seen it in ivory and a light golden color. The ivory looks great on..but I think I am hesitant b/c I am a tradionalist in that I picture myself in a white gown..but I have not seen this gown in white and have called every shop who carries this gown and noone carries it in white, or has a picture of it in white. Just wanted to see if anyone else is getting an ivory gown...or your thoughts on it...thanks :)

Help with my gown...

I think ivory gowns are really rich looking. If you tried it on and love it then definitely go with it. You may not even like it as much in white.

Help with my gown...

I'm wearing ivory too. I tried my dress on in the ivory and decided to go with it. I didn't want to take the chance and order the white and not like the way it looked when it came in.

Help with my gown...

I originally wanted ivory b/c i have dark skin, but since the gown that i tried on and love is white (and looks good on me), i'm not sure if i should take a chance and order the ivory, and be stuck with it. i like ivory, and if you want it, go for it.

Help with my gown...

If you tried it on in ivory and cannot find it in white anywhere I would not take the chance. Ivory is beautiful and still traditional. It is elegant looking. I tried on a gown in ivory and it was beautiful. When I saw it in white, it looked half as nice. Something about the ivory just made the dress look richer, more finished. Even though that gown was not 'The One', if it had been I would not have ordered it unseen in white. You will look beautiful in ivory.

I had the same problem...

I feel in love with an Anne Barge gown that was hard to find to begin with. Add that to the fact that every salon on the east coast only carried it in a golden ivory. I wanted a more white ivory but had never seen it. As much as I would recommend you see it before buying it, I bought my gown sight unseen. If you really want this gown and have always wanted white - then go for it! Just be sure about it.

I tried on the gown I ordered..

in ivory, but I ordered the white. I knew all along I wanted a white dress, but the store only had the sample in ivory. I tried on plenty of other gowns in white, so I know what I look like in white. So, I did not think it was a big deal to just order the white version.

white vs ivory

Do you mind me asking what dress and or mfg it is? I am looking at dresses now and have kind of been in the same dilema. I try the dresses on in ivory and like them but you just would like to see it in white before you buy it...(I have a preference to the white but can go either way...I think Ivory looks classy!) It seemed every store only carried the one dress I liked in ivory but I finally found one boutique that had it in white after many, many phones calls...also another store had it on order for somone else...they showed it to me but just couldn't touch it. Wound up it looked beuatiful in white too!

white vs ivory

My dress is ivory. At first I was very particular about wanting white. But,I foudn the dress that I loved, and it didn't come in white. Now I am glad I have it in ivory. I am very fair, and it goes very well with my complexion. It isn't as harsh as a bright white. Plus, I love the classic look.

white vs. ivory

White vs. Ivory is a personal choice, and it usually doesn't matter what style the dress is. The color you wear is really dictated by which looks best for your complexion, hair/eye color. I originally wanted a purely white dress, but b/c I have an olive complexion, black hair and dark brown eyes, the ivory suited me better and was richer looking. My dress was made by Alfred Angelo, and the style was available in white and ivory - however, Lynbrook Bridal only carried the ivory sample (lucky me!)

white vs. ivory

I ordered a ivory gown b/c I am fair - and white just made me look like a ghost. But if you have a darker completion, white can look amazing. My personal experience is that beading looks nicer on an ivory gown and plain gowns look better white. Also, another indication may be the gown ad - is it in white or ivory? If its in ivory, chances are that the best color for it (at least for photos).
