V....I think most girls are not doing a play list

I think you should give your DJ a broad list

just like you wrote in the post, tell them exactly that

give them the spanish songs
and tell them we want oldies that you can dance to and new stuff

DJs know what to do and know how to mix the songs together

I am not giving them a list...just something basic like, play 50s music during dinner
no line dances
and a set of oldies like 70s and 80s
and specific spanish songs I must hear
and a select few newer songs that I really want to hear

but I think youre better off without a huge detailed list

Your DJ should be able to provide you with a list of songs that are popular, ones they play often and you can pick some of your favs there.

The point of the DJ and you hiring them is to not dictate every song they play. You shold feel confident in their ability to play songs you like.

Talk to your DJ and see if they have a list of english songs available that you can pick and choose - or say to them 'we want popular english songs that play on such radio stations as XXX'

Also - maybe go to radio station websites and listen to english songs there and write down the names - or go on iTunes and listen. You don't need an ipod to listen to song samples on iTunes.

V, I put Marco on music duty but I was more concerned with a 'do not play list'.

No electric slide, no macarena, no cotton eye joe, no KEISHA!!!!!!!!!!!!

then just make a list of artists that you DO like so that they get a vibe of what your style is
