Help with Photographers; Palm Tree Productions??????

Hi, Ok I need help, I found this photographer in LI Bride to be they are 1000.00 for both photographer and video. It fits perfectly into our budget, so we went to look there work was very good. I received my contract in the mail and it lists the times of our ceremony and reception and what we receive in our package. How early should we tell them we want them to meet us? Should it say how many pictured they will take? I am completely unsure of how these contracts work. If someone could answer my questions I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Did you leave any $$$ with these people to book your date? The contract should have everything written down like how many hours (if limited) they will work that day, how many proofs, etc. Keep in mind that you will have little recourse if these vendors do not do what you want unless its in writing! PS: I checked this company out on the better business bereau site and did not find any company by that name.

I met with the owner of palm tree. Joe he has been in business for 18 years has another location in NYC. My fiance and I are in the sales so we are very careful as to what we get and putting it in writing. The photography package is great what you don''t get are table shots with that package. The video is a straight no edit video. So it is just uncut. You pay an extra few hundred to edit. Let me tell you that we did check out the references and they did pan out. The owner of the store there in and a few people we called all showed us the finish product. The photo albums are reg white binders (not the stitched ones. I have priced the package around and all the other quotes were ALOT more from $1500. to 3500. all for the same or less. We got everything in writing and gave him a very small dep and agreed when all is completed we would pay the complete balance. He agreed. I really don''t think we have anything to worry about at all. Some photographers are really into making a huge profit when in reality the film (we priced) is not expensive and what you really pay is their time up to $500 per hour. Outrageous. Make sure all is listed and written from proofs to amount of pictures.

My contract had an approximate number of pictures they were to take. The time was agreed upon after the contract with me, but if you want pictures of you getting ready with mom, sis, etc., you should consider that and how much time it will take you to get to the ceremony. Remember, it's okay if the bride is a bit late. Your photographer should be able to help you with timing, but your contract should say how many hours you have the photographer for.
