I haven't been to a wedding in a while and before our meeting with our DJ, I'm trying to make a play list in the correct order. So, what is the correct order of songs during the reception. Well I know that while guests are going from the cocktail hour to the reception room there will be music. But after that is this the correct order?
our entrance song (we don't have any other entrances) the first dance parent dances
what's next?

Re: Help with song order for reception
If all of the parents are still married then the parent dance is fine after the first dance, but if there are any single parents make sure that they have a pre-set partner to dance with such as a son or brother.
The DJ or band takes a lot of cues from the reception hall. He/she will play dance music during non-food serving times. Usually after the second dance, guests are asks to take their seats so that their order can be taken, then app. salad and main course are served. The Band or DJ plays more mellow/jazz type music. They may play a few dance tunes in between courses. After all of the food is served the real dancing begins. The father/daughter and mother/son dance will go there.
