So I just realized there are two different types of these stand mixers - a tilt head one and a bowl lift one.
Which did you register for and why?
I already have one of the two on my registry but didn't realize there were different types. Both are 5 Qt capacity.
The tilt head one is the Artisan (325 watts for $300) and comes with one more attachment than the other- (the pouring shield). Here's the tilt top one:
The one where the bowl lifts is the Professional 5 Plus Series (450 watts for $320). Brings same attachments minus the pouring shield. This is the bowl lift one:
I figured tilt head is easier access? And it's the popular Artisan series so I guess I could find more attachments and whatnot for it (although who knows if I'd actually get them). But the other is more watts, so it's better?? But it doesn't have the pouring shield, and I couldn't find a pouring shield that goes with that mixer.
THANKS!!!

Re: Help with the KitchenAid Stand Mixer
We have the first one (tilt head) and we love it. The nice thing is that when you tilt it back, all the stuff stuck to the actual mixing part drips down into the bowl, so when you go to remove the bowl you can let it drip for a minute and you make less of a mess. JMO!

Re: Help with the KitchenAid Stand Mixer
I got the bigger one with out the tilt head. The bigger one has more power but you do have to lift the bowl up and down to get the mixer attachments out. I think it also comes with a bigger bowl. The smaller one does have that ease of the top flipping up though. I do alot of cooking/baking and that is why i decided on the bigger one. I have heard many complain about having to lift it up and down though. Sooo, i guess it all depends on how much baking/cooking you do and if you need the extra power or not. Good luck!! I was in the same dilema as you, the lady at the store pushed me to go with the more powerful one.

I registered for the tilt head..
I have used both versions and let me tell you the tilt head is far better!! It's easier and less mess than the other one..Watt wise did not notice a difference..

Re: Help with the KitchenAid Stand Mixer
i have the one that does not tip, and we did a lot of research before buying, the more power seemed the have better reviews and just work better.. I love it! it takes all the same attachments, there is no difference, its just considered the professional model b/c it puts out a lot more power.

I have the tilt head one. I like it because you don't have to tkae off the attachment to get the bowl off.
I use it a lot and it can hold a double batch of cookie dough without a problem.

THANK YOU! I had just decided to stick to the tilt head one, but this definitely solidifies my decision (the fact that you don't need to remove the attachments to get the bowl out - that's great and I never even thought of that!).
Thanks ladies!

Re: Help with the KitchenAid Stand Mixer
I have the tilt head one and that would be the ONLY one I would ever get. My mom used to have a tilt head one and then she decided she wanted to upgrade and got the liftting bowl one. I HATED it. It was such a pain when you were trying to bake because everytime you'd go to take the bowl off you'd have to tilt it and manuever it around the beater and it would ALWAYS make a mess. It was such a PITA - definitely register for the tilt head one instead - you will be glad you did!

Re: Help with the KitchenAid Stand Mixer
I have used both and really prefer the 2nd one - they are both great mixers and I think it's just personal prefernce - my reason isn't based on preformance or anything - I just like the feeling of moving the bowl up and down, LOL.
