Help with this Centerpiece

Help with this Centerpiece

I saw a diy centerpiece on the web but can not find it. It look liked the one I posted below but was made from picture frames (I think). It had photos of the bride and groom printed on vellum paper and was lit from within with a votive candle. If anyone can help me find the instructions or give the me instructions to make this centerpiece it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks, I think it was on weddingchat that I saw it, did you by chance copy the instruction or the picture? Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Help with this Centerpiece

i spent all night looking through the photo gallery of the site where i had seen it, but i had no luck.

i did find other pics for you, though.

both of these use a light bulb because they are lamps. if you feel a little scared about an open flame by the vellum pictures, you can use the artificial candles that are sold in craft stores.

the first picture is of four picture frames held together the way a photo cube would be done... there are many threads here about how to put one of those together. to do it this way... you would get four frames (the size you want... i would suggest something not too big, because you don't want the top of the picture to be dark because it's too far from the candle). in a photo cube, you keep the back of the frame to hold the picture in place. with this project you want the light to shine through, so you'll have to tape the vellum to the glass. also use the 'tabs' that picture frames have to hold the back in for added support.

the second picture is the same idea but there's more 'construction' needed

the third is of a candle... kind of like the saint candles that can be found almost anywhere. this could be another option if you're short on time and/or don't want to be bothered with any of the construction. i guess

let me know if i didn't make that clear.

i'll keep adding information as i remember it

Thanks, I really like the second pic. If I can't find the instructions for the one I wanted. I think I want to try to copy that one.

Do you mind me asking which photo gallery you found the pictures. The second photo looks like the one from the weddingchat site. If I remember correctly, it had the tabs on the bottom. Is there a larger photo of the second one?

Re: Help with this Centerpiece

i think you can easily 'fake' the one you like. get four frames. make it like a photo cube and then adhere the longer 'posts' to the corners, that way it's lifted off the table. you could easily find the wood for that at a craft store or at a home improvement center.

i'm curious now. i'm going to try to put one together, myself. i'll let you know how it goes

eta: sorry i didn't catch that second post before i replied.

the site i originally saw the pic in was ultimatewedding.com. i think that their forum is weddingchat. but like i said, their server is down. but their photo gallery is still up. i spent all last night looking through it and i didn't find it.

the second pic that you like.... i found that by google-ing 'vellum lamp'.

i'll keep looking for you

Thanks for all your help. I googled vellum lamp but could not find it. I will copy your post and try to enlarge it. I want to say thanks again, you have been a great help, I figured I was losing my mind because I seem to be the only person that had seen that centerpiece on weddingchat until I read your post. SO THANKS!!!!!

Re: Help with this Centerpiece

if you're able to construct the frame, you can easily light it with one of those battery operated fake candles. this way you don't have to worry about a cord or about fire.
