Help with Wedding Dress!!

Help with Wedding Dress!!

Hey everyone!
I'm completely new to this site, and wanted to pick at all of your very tasteful brains.

I purchased a Priscilla of boston gown when the store was going out of business. I had to take it down a few sizes and for comfort reasons I would like to add sleeves (either 1/2, or 3/4).

Originally my inspiration was Ivanka Trumps wedding dress. My seamstress came up with this...

Something about the dress looks funny to me. I cant put my finger on it.. Any ideas? Is the neckline too high? Is the sweetheart neckline to high? Am I using the wrong material? Should I just add straps and sleeves? Argh! starting to make myself crazy. How would you ladies redesign this dress??

i think the neckline is nice, what is off to me is the extra fabric on one side covering the beading. Very pretty dress, i love the beading the seamstress added to the sleeves.

If you feel that you need some kind of sleeve, I feel what she has done looks nice. It sounds like you might be bothered by the high neck line, perhaps just ask her to cut it down a bit more, make it more of a scoop.

First off your dress is absolutely beautiful! I think the sleeves look nice, but the neckline is a bit high for my liking and I think it takes away from the dress once you cover it on one side.

ITA! Beautiful dress.. but also that the material covers the bling..

You guys are so nice...Stopping me mid panic attack

Okay, so I'll ask her to remove the fabric covering the bling and bring down the neckline? What do you think about scrapping the top entirely and just adding thick straps and sleeves?

Keep the advice coming!! I really appreciate it!!

I think that I would prefer to see a thicker strap with some sort of sleeve....I like the neckline of the dress.

Did you want an elbow length sleeve? I do really like the bling on the sleeve.

I am a fan of strapless or straps so i would say yes.. or how about one side strapped but the strap being blingy??

What if you just added something to the top of your shoulders and back of neck and make the front lower.

Not sure if that makes sense....basically same fabric almost like a shrug look covering shoulders and back of neck...sewn in of corse.

First, I think it is a beautiful dress and would look nice with the tweaks that the other ladies mentioned -

Although, I will tell you something that a lady at Kleinfeld's had suggested I do with a dress with a similar skirt....

If you use the tulle type material to make a little cap sleeve (if you can picture it lol), it would also be beautiful! I am just not sure if you are set on long sleeves, but I almost wish I had ended up with a dress that I could do that too - I felt like a princess when she demonstrated the look on a dress I had tried on.

Either way, the dress will be gorgeous!!

The dress is beautiful! The one change I would make would be to have the sewing be done into the dress rather than over it.. I think it would look neater!

Have you considered a cap sleeve? I think the material in the skirt of the dress is so delicate that the extra fabric she added overwhelms it a bit... does that make sense?

I think cap sleeve would be the perfect addition.

I like this idea!!! I think this dress is hot! So different and you look great in it!!! Maybe take some of the material off and add straps? I'm not into fluffy or puffy dresses but I think this is beautiful!

Your dress is beautiful! I love what you did to it! In addition to the fabric covering the bling, the neckline isn't sitting right on you. It looks like you have a little extra fabric at the very top.
