Re: help...feeling overwhelmed

If you lived in LI I would have said that I totally think that you can pull it off in the time you have left...but being in a different state kind of makes things a whole lot harder, esp. since you have a small baby. My suggestion to you would be to definitely get a wedding planner. She'll speak with all the vendors and make sure that you get what you want. And they can even get you some discounts and perks thrown in...so wedding planners almost pay for themselves.

Ask around on these boards for info on wedding planners. I'm sure you'll get a lot of answers. And don't forget to try the search...

Re: help...feeling overwhelmed

I too am planning a wedding from out of state. I live in LI and getting married in MD. Fortunately I'm a teacher so I have a good amount of breaks to go to MD and I will have off before my wedding. But in some ways I think it is easier this way. I've used wedding wire and my knot local boards, as well as LI weddings. This has helped with vendor reviews and then I just have to trust myself and book online. It's been somewhat easier b/c Im not spending all my time visiting places, I just do some research and book. It's not wedding 24/7 thank god! LOL

I would....only her vendors are too pricy for me. I am on a tight budget....hoping to get everything for 15k but when I'm pricing things out it seems like I am gonna go over to like 20k...

you can try an all inclusive place. i think san souci and thatched cottage may have those.. maybe douglaston manor too. swan club.. not sure?
ALso try a place like the wedding box (i think gthats what its called) or wedding center or wedding world.. where they have all the vendors in house in one place and from what i hear at great prices for multiple vendor packages.

THank You!!!!! I have my hall already though. I went with them because my sister is getting married at the Sand Castle and they had another property FLoral Terrace...where I got an amazing deal .....got my photo/video with the same company as my sister because I got a good deal from them but for flowers, limo and the rest of stuff she is paying an arm and a leg.....I am starting to use this site alot and I am finding more reasonably priced places with what I want....

Burtons for flowers and Camelot for limos. Burtons also does dresses for a lot cheaper than boutiques however, I would def get your dress in FL being that it is more convenient for fittings, etc. Good Luck. I'm sure everything will work out perfectly!!!

This can be DONE!!! The dresses for the bridesmaids, have them buy it wherever they are living perse if its here let them buy it here. Your dress should be bought in FLORIDA to make things easier for yourself. There's a timeline on here which will help you out a lot. You should plan a trip here for a week to get all of your wedding vendors out of the way that you feel the need to see. For example makeup artists, hair dressers, limos, flowers....etc... plan your schedule around the same day so you wouldn't feel stressed out.... I would say search around for makeup artists and hair dressors, make sure that the ones you want to have a trial with are available for your day. Also for your dress please give them a fake date like two or three weeks before your wedding.

Don't worry about it... I have several friends who planned their weddings in 5 or 6 months and they turned out just as fabulous as the ones who planned for 18 months. It is overwhelming at times, but you will make it through!

First Congrats on the wedding... And we are DATE TWINS!!! I def feel your stressed.. I have just about the exact same things left to do... and its driving me crazy... So I can only imagine how stressful it is with your distance.. Def a planner would help alot if you can swing it.. OR friends/maind of honor or some one in LI that could help you out... Im learning now... just take it a day at a time and try to concentrate on your vendors first.. one at a time.. dont go crazy!!!

Congrats on your lil one as well.
