HELP......Feta Cheese

If it's pasturized can I eat it?
I am so confused. It's soft but pasturized so can it still cause fetal harm?

I have had some in salad a few times but it is from cheese I had at home that was pasturized.

I think as long as it's pasturized you're ok.

'Cheeses made in the United States must be made from pasteurized milk (pasteurization kills the listeria organism), so those are fairly safe. Imported soft cheeses are another story. These may include Brie, Camembert, feta, goat, Limburger, Montrachet, Neufchatel, queso fresco, and Pont-Leveque. Listeria can also be found in unpasteurized semi-soft cheeses (slightly more solid cheeses that do not grate easily and are often coated with wax to preserve moisture and extend shelf life). Semi-soft cheeses include Asiago, Belle Paese, bleu, brick, Gorgonzola, Havarti, Muenster, Port-Salut, Roquefort, and Taleggio. Listeria is not found in hard cheeses such as Cheddar, or in processed cheeses such as cottage cheese, or in yogurt. '

I would eat it if its pastuerized. I eat a lot of cheeses, but only if they are made from pastuerized milk.

Not true! You can eat feta as long as it is pasteurized and all cheeses made here in the US are indeed pasteurized. When they are imported you risk the chance of unpasteurized, but it is highly unlikely here since the FDA REQUIRES pasteurization, if not alot of the elderly, children and immune-compromised individuals would be faced with life threatening listeria. I eat feta ALL the time, with each pregnancy too! It is my craving and my doc said 'no problem'.
