HELP......I just ate

a fruit salad and now my lips look like I had collegen injections!!! This has never happend to me! They are so swollen!! What do I do????

I would go to the doctor maybe you were allergic to something.

you were allergic to something.... drink water fast and if you notice your chest closing up (can't breathe) go to the hospital real quick!!!

I always get that when I eat something i'm allergic too... you must be allergic to something in it... go get a antihistamine quick and drink A LOT of water, flush it out of your system...

It will take a few hours...

If you think it's an allergic reaction you can try benadryl? Otherwise what about putting ice on them or something... that's strange.

You might want to call your dr immediately before taking the benyadryl because if the allergy is more severe than you think it might make it harder to medicate you if you have to go to the hospital later.

As long as your breathing is ok and you don't feel like you will faint you will be ok - that happened to me when I was young with mustard.

Take some benadryl (sp), and go to the ER to get a shot, if it gets that bad!

Do you have an Epi pen? My mother is a nurse, and a little fanatic about first aid, it's an epinephrine pen to give yourself a shot in case of an allergic reaction to say bee stings, or something. I think it could be used for any allergic reaction that's bad, but I'm not sure. I'd look into getting one.

Thanks ladies. My ears started to get hot and turn red, so I went upstairs to a Dr. in my building (thank God he is a client), he gave me an anti-histamine shot. The lips are still kinda swollen, but I feel better.

I cant understand how this could happen, its fruit I always eat, pineapple, oranges, strawberries, kiwi...that is so weird

Could it be a reaction to the pesticides that they wash the fruit in?

your body can also develop food allergies as you age - I never used to be allergic to anything and now I have a list of foods I can't eat.

Strawberries & kiwi fruit tend to cause allergic reactions more often than any other fruit.

NOOOO Those are my 2 favorite fruits!! I'm going to make an appointment with an allergist and have a scratch test done.

Well my father is allergic to strawberries - He used to love them and eat them every year - well suddenly one day he got bad hives and they tested him and he suddenly developed an allergy to them - go figure. I hate to say it but you will be better if it is an actual fruit than if it is the chemical wash - then you at least know what to avoid eating
