HELP....I NEED DJ ADVICE

I just got engaged about a month ago and decided to tackle the dj thing first. I don't want all the smoke and props. I just want a classy dj that will play good music and get the crowd dancing. So we met with Vinny from High Voltage tonight. We got a great vibe and the $$$$ is great. I am just hesitant about a few things.

1. I am not sure how his equipment will look. He has this black wall that he stand behind and it has this arch that I think may look a little wierd.

2. I am not sure if his Silver vest is too flashy

3. Are his prices too good to be true? Some people say you get what you pay for.

4. He didn't show us a video of him. He said he doesn't do showcases because everyone wants different things. I guess this goes for showing video too. Do you think this is bad?

Does anyone have any experience with Vinny, used him themselves or been to a wedding where he dj'd. Please help me out. I feel that a DJ is so important and it's such a hard decision to make. I may be just over analysing this. I have been known to do that. Thanks

I wouldn't worry about it. He is very approachable. I think if asked him about the arch he might be willing to not put it up if it bothers you that much. Keep in mind that no one notices what the dj is wearing unless he is really dressed inappropriately (ex. jeans or something).

There are a ton of reviews here and I never once read anything even remotely negative about him. He was one of the few dj's I met with who actually listened and was willing to give me what I wanted. Everyone else was trying to convince me that I needed all of the extra fog machines, lights, etc. JIMO, they are completely not my idea for what is appropriate for my wedding. He's the only one who kept saying, it's your wedding I'll do whatever you want.

I agree. He is very easy to talk to and didn't pressure us at all. I'm one of those people that worries about everything and asks the vendors lots of questions, but with Vinny FH and I were sure right away. As for seeing him dj we did view his video, but we asked him if we could see him dj at another party and he agreed. :)

DH and I booked Michael. Everything was great and my dad loved that he could have conversations and not be drowned out by the music!
