Help!...I'm new and I need help!

hello everyone...i'm new to the site.
I'm getting married in Dec. '05.
Someone told me that i am supposed to get him an engagement gift....does anyone know if this is true. If it is, any ideas?

What about a nice watch? or cufflinks? I just got nice Tiffany & co ones for my groomsmen.

eta. I just saw we are getting married at 'sister' halls and are using the same florist!

I am probably not getting my FH anything, and I don't think he expects anything. A nice card with a poem or letter telling him how you'll feel about him and maybe something that means something to the two of you would be nice.Make his mom or dad leave it on his pillow while he is getting ready the day of your wedding. This will mean more to him then a watch or something. Guys really don't care, and you'll be spending a ton of money anyway.

You really don't have to if you don't want to.
I got my FI a ring a month after he proposed.
But, it's really optional and up to the person.

I have no $$, and I already abought him cufflinks for an anniversary . I'm going to save the $$ and buy him a really nice watch as a wedding gift.

First of all Welcome and Congrats on your engagement.
You don't have to get an engagement gift. I gave FH money for a down payment on a car because he needed a new car but put it on hold to buy my engagement ring. It is up to you but you don't have to.
