My FI and I are torn about what to do after our wedding. It ends at 6pm at the Watermill in Smithtown on a Friday and we both want to have a limo pick us up and take us to Manhattan (where we met) and stay at a really nice hotel for our wedding night. We live in San Diego right now so it would be nice to spend the night in the city. The problem is that my parents are having a brunch the next day Saturday at 10am in Eastern Long Island and I'm sure they'd want us to go since the invitation will be extended to his family as well. But if we went to Manhattan, we'd be flying out of Laguardia on Saturday back to San Diego, so we wouldn't want to go to Bohemia before our flight. If we went to the brunch we'd be flying out of Islip around 1pm and would only have about 2 hours at the brunch anyway. What to do????

Re: Help...Long
You could do it, the timing will be cut close and you may be tired. How about having a limo bring you to the brunch and wait for you and bring you to LaGuardia afterward??

Many times family throws a brunch for the out of town guests and other relatives and the bride and groom do not attend. You don't necessarily have to attend. Run it by your mom and see how she feels about it. Would she still have it even if you were leaving directly after the wedding? Is she having it especially for you?

I agree with Cutie Lips - talk to your mother and find out if your attendance is expected. I imagine she knows you are going back to SD on Saturday, so I would assume you are not obligated to go to the brunch.

I agree that the city would be a really nice thing for the two of you to do on your wedding night and if that is what you really want to do i would do it and either look into not attending the brunch or just rushing a bit to at least make an appearance.
Just for another option since you are a summer wedding the hamptons and out east are all great places to go that time of year so you could always spend the night out there, even montauk is gorgeous and then hit bohemia on your way back to the airport and just do manhattan another time, its not necesarily a romanitc place to be anyway as opposed to the beach with a sunset dinner, just a thought.
