hepl! can gold jewelry be 'dipped white gold' or something?
i am looking for bridal jewelry and really cant find anything i like
i do have a beautiful diamond necklace and bracelet that my parents gave me a while back - they are yellow gold and i really wanted to wear white gold or sterling or something like that
does anyone know if it is possible to get them dipped into white gold or something like that - would it be terribly expensive or any recommendations on where to go

Well yellow gold is dipped in rodium to make it white gold..that is what White Gold is..the chemical reaction is what turns it white

Yes it absolutely can. The only problem is depending on what type of jewelery it has to be redipped every so often.

that is exactly what makes white gold what it is- the dipping. Of course you can . . . not sure of the cost but it can be done

I think it can be turned into white gold. I know that my earrings needs to be re-rhodium-ized (I know that's not even a word!!!) everyonce in a while to keep it's beautiful color. My earrings are still under warranty so I don't have to pay a price for that. I take them to Zales, but I don't know if they'll do that for jewelry that they didn't sell....
Do your parents remember where they got the jewelry? That may be the best place to start in asking them if it's possible to transform your jewelry and get some general pricings. Or you could call some of the jewelers that were mentioned on these boards and ask for pricing - just to get an idea if the cost amongst competitors and see if it would be worth it.

oh i am starting to get excited about this now
i am going to go post on the vendor board and see if any jewelers out there are reading and can give me a ball park price
