Here she goes with the HM ramblings again...

Here she goes with the HM ramblings again...

So, we still don't have a Honeymoon. I still don't really want to go on one this year because of timing, and money, etc.

FMIL is giving us $1000 toward one and is insisting we go do something. We had decided on VA Beach, which was nice, but it wasn't what we really wanted. I would like to keep the $1000 for now, and use it toward the HM we really want next year, but FMIL continues to insist that we have to go on some sort of honeymoon.

Depending on where I get a job, I may have to start orientation 2 days after the wedding. And even if I do get the week, I know me, and I won't be able to relax. I'll either be stressing about starting my first teaching job, or stressing that I don't have a job.

FH agrees with me that we should save the money she's giving us for the real honeymoon that we want next year, but when FMIL gets something in her head, it's hard to get it out.

I appreciate that she's giving us this money and all, but I feel like everything I'm doing for this wedding is to make the mothers happy, even though I'm not happy with it.

I mean, why can't we just save the money to do something we really want to do when we have the time, and the money to supplement it, instead of doing something half assed just for the sake of doing something.

I know FMIL means well, but she's so insistant.

I totally understand about the whole HM thing. We really haven't decided on anything yet either. You see - Fh and I are paying for the wedding on our own plus we have a 1 year old son at home and still live in an apartment and want to buy a house ASAP after the wedding. No one is giving us anything towards a HM but we were going to use some of the money that we make from the wedding towards it but I am starting school on Sept 10th ( as well as working full time ) and I can not miss 2 weeks of classes, especially at the very beginning. We are getting married on a friday and I have class on Tuesday & Thursday evenings as well as a 3 1/2 hour class on Saturday mornings. We are getting married on a friday so I am already going to miss Thursday night & Saturday mornings class just due to the wedding. We are thinking of going to the Poconos for 3 nights/4 days. It will be nice to take a little break at least till we can actually go on the HM of our dreams (Italy)next year. That way I will only miss 1 day in each class and make it back for Thursdays class the following week. Good Luck though... Let me know what you decide.

Aww Deb. Did you explain to her why it is a bad time? Maybe once she sees all the job related complications, she will ease up.

I have. But she just says that we can cancel it if we need to.

It doesn't help that she's completely convinced that the reason her marraige didn't work out was because the didn't go on a honeymoon

My parents went to St. Thomas, and that didn't work out. I don't see the correlation.
