Have your FHs already made decisions or requests about what to do with the monetary gifts from the wedding? FH wants to buy a 52 inch flat screen and some other goodies with it! Everyday its someting else! I wanted to just buy things we need like a couch and coffee table, and then put the rest in a savings for a DP on a house!

well first thing FH did was he got a safe :) we're going to use some for our closing cost on our house and the rest I think to pay of our Honeymoon & we're buying my parents a trip to somewhere, im actually looking up deals now.
52inch TV is alwayssssss nice!!!

yes, his request is to pay down the line of credit we took out to pay for the wedding. How can I not honor that? lol. After that it's pure downpayment on a house

I am hoping to get enough to cover the loan we will take out for the reception. I don't expect to get more than that, hoping to get just enough. The rest of the stuff will be paid off. Our plate fees are very reasonable for a Sat eve and well below the norm, so I feel that it is a reasonable expectation. Anything over that, we will use for the honeymoon expenses and paying my mother and sister back.
I agree that necessities should take precedence next.

Lindsay your FH and my FH must share a brain All he ever talks about is after the wedding getting at least a 52 inch Plasma TV for the den! I on the other hand want to put in hardwood floors in the house or get a dining room set. I think I am going to win on this though since we already have an abundance of TVs...although a plasma would be nice now that I think about it.

I'm hoping to pay off all of the furniture we bought last Nov for our condo... then paying off our credits card debt which is WAY more than we've ever had before due to the wedding. If there is any left, we will either save it or put it toward a new bedroom set.
