I was introduced to LIweddings through a coworker.At the time. I was not engaged yet but joined just to look around knowing I would be engaged soon. Once I got engaged I was on here constantly. I posted about everything from the hall to dj to florist to honeymoon. But the best LIweddings experience for me came four months after I joined in April of 2003. I was reading the NWR posts when I click on one titled something like “Please tell me I don’t look like ...'. So being curious I click on it. I see the pick of this girl asking if she looks like so and so (can’t remember who it is now, some TV character) Anyway I see the girl and I couldn’t believe me eyes. So I double check her profile to see her name and sure enough it was who I thought it was. So I quickly FM the girl and say” well I don’t think you look like so and so but I do think you look like a girl Noreen I went to HS with”. Within minutes I get a FM back saying yes it was her. From that day on we have continued our friendship from HS as if it never ended (it never really ended on bad note or anything but we kind of just lost touch).Anyway the friendship continued through IM and phone calls and occasionally seeing each other to when the day came that we were talking on IM and I told her that she was invited to my wedding. It was a great day for both of us. She was at my wedding and I could not be happier that through LIweddings I was able to have wonderful friend share in my special day. The only bad thing is that she got married a few months before we reunited and we always talk about how I was not able to celebrate her special day. But we always talk about sharing so many other milestones in our lives together. In fact we are always talking about how cool it would be to be pregnant together.
So, many girls can say that LIweddings helped with their planning and I can honestly say that too but, not many girls can say that LIweddings reunited them with a wonderful person who now I can’t imagine not having in my life!

“Wanna see my STD?”

I think this is the first post I saw when I logged onto Long Island Weddings! At first I was like, Umm…what’s wrong with these people? The people responding to this post were all saying they wanted to see it, asking who made it, and how hard was it to do? Why are they asking if we want to see their SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASE?

Finally, after reading further into Long Island Weddings, using the SEARCH feature and just blatantly asking, I found out an STD was a SAVE THE DATE! That eased my mind a little bit, and it now made sense that people wanted to see an STD!!

I joined LIW as a newly engaged, confused girl. I was born and raised in Sag Harbor, Long Island. I am now living in Rhode Island. So, I already knew it would be a challenge to plan a wedding, long distance. So, finding myself at Long Island Weddings, was a blessing in disguise!! There was no other place I could go to look at so many different chat boards, so many different topics, opinions, constructive criticism, honesty, and love!

I did not know what I was getting myself into, I did not know the ADDICTION I would feel to Long Island Weddings! I was learning about peoples lives, and about weddings. I was forming friendships with a great group of girls, who all shared one thing in common: getting married---dealing with in laws, future husbands, families, bridal parties, budgets, and the list is endless!

I organized 2 successful Ornament Swaps with the members of LIW, the second year, tying it together the week of my wedding! I developed an excellent friendship with one person I met on LIW, whose friendship I value above all others. I have laughed and cried with the best, shared prayers with the ones suffering, donated to the family of a LIWer who was killed in a senseless accident, and “oohed and aahed” over all the new babies who came into the LIW world.

I truly feel that Long Island Weddings has become my second family, my home away from home. The members of LIW have made my wedding experience better than I could have ever expected. We can agree to disagree, which in my opinion, is HUGE. Ron and Liz have a great thing going here. In a day and age where there is so much bad in the world, its great to know that I can always go to my Home away from Home and be myself, and love the people who make Long Island Weddings what it is!
