'HersDay' Question of the Day

Stolen from WBLI this morning...

1. Cheesiest wedding you've ever gone to

2. BEST wedding you've ever gone to

Re: 'HersDay' Question of the Day

1. Cheesiest Wedding - it was in south jersey and they ran out of wine/beer. No bartender, you served yourself (which I am fine with)...but with a bunch of old frat guys... you get the picture...it was bad.

2. Best Wedding -
Toss Up: My cousin's wedding, tho I was a BM and didn't get a chance to fully enjoy, was at Russo's - FH still talks about it and really wanted to get married there. But for what we wanted, it was out of our price range. It was really the best because of the food.

The second wedding was his best friend. It was on the shore at a firehouse, they got married at a lighthouse. It was lowkey - opposite from my cousin's but it was personal and you could feel the love. Even tho it was the same thing (no bartendar, served yourself), buffet, paper everything... it was awesome. You felt the love.

Funniest thing is that I went to both of them in a week of each other.... So it was like opposite sides of the world.

1. oh man i hope she doesnt read this... i went to a wedding 2nd wedding where after the bride and grooms first dance they started playing the song 'lets get drunk and screw'!!!!! I dont think i have to say anything else.

2.Best wedding???? Well so far on of my best friends weddings i was in the bridal party and had the best time. I realized what really counts at a wedding. Having a great time dancing, seeing people you havent seen in ages, and of course the drinking and food was good too. Its not all about the little things. Color of linens, the flowers i did not even pay attention to that stuff. We all had a great time. I hope mine can be just as good as hers.

Worst-in Raleigh, NC at a restaurant, I think...sandwiches for the entree (buffet)...beer and wine only for a limited time..one of the groomsmen actually took a beer pitcher and asked for donations to keep the bar open! I also didn't like most of the people there, it was my ex's friend who got married, so that definitely contributed to how horrific it was!

Best-Tie
1) The Pleasantdale Chateau in New Jersey. Just beautiful, very high class but not stuffy. Great band, great food, great people...and they filmed the pool scene from Cocoon there, which we went swimming in that night!

2) The Colgate Inn in Hamilton, NY-just a fun, full weekend wedding in the town where Colgate U is. Very laid back and quaint, much different from the above wedding. The Colgate U kids were just coming back after summer break, so the town was jumping. We went out to the bars afterwards, and all the kids were applauding the bride and groom as they walked through the streets. It was awesome!

Re: 'HersDay' Question of the Day

1. Worst: I won't say the place bc they are a vendor on here and I know it was most definately what the couple chose but OMG tacky and cheap...it was a buffet style weddng, which is fine, but there was only three choices and it was the same three choices for all of the five stations...there was only two kinds of beer (and they were cheap beer), the way the room is made, tables were scattered everywhere...it felt like you were in a restuarnt...our table was right next to the bathroom..that was fun..the centerpieces looked so homemade...like they put no effort in trying to make them look nice...I don't mean to sound crash but it looked very cheap...I've been to other weddings were the couple made their own cp and favors and it looked prof...they just didn't put any effort into anything...they just had a wedding for the sake of having one.

2. Best: A wedding at Oheka Castle. I didn't even know the couple. I was someones date (before FH came into the pic ). Everything about it was elegant and intimate. They did such a beautiful job. From the CH, to the dinner, to the cigars and cognac in the library...tasteful and not over the top. They did simple cp's for the tables, a donation for a favor (that was the first wedding that I went to that did that and I loved it)...their guest list was small so they wer able to come and sit down with all their guests and thank them for coming and talk to them...

Re: 'HersDay' Question of the Day

1. Cheesiest wedding - hands down - has got to go to my dad's wedding to wife #3. It was cheesy from start to finish - my sister made fun of everything the whole night long. By the way, JMO, but when you're 50+ and on wedding #3, the bride doesn't need to wear a full-fledged wedding gown, complete with tiara and veil.....plus her boobs were all over the place (my sister and I call it the quadra-boob, as they're protruding from the top of her gown). Can you tell I don't care for my dad's choice of bride?

2. Best would have to be a friends wedding at Lands End a few years back. Totally classy, not overdone, just perfect!

The Cheesiest wedding: I did not really know this person I was somebody's date. The bride and groom played a short movie on a big screen that was made of them with action and romance scenes! I think everybody was trying not to laugh. The reception hall it self was quite cheesy too! I don't remember the name of it.

The Best Wedding: My Cousins in MD. It was at a old estate and they got married out side in a beautiful garden and the cocktail and reception were outside. It was just beautiful and elegant.

Cheesiest -

My cousin's wedding in PA - they stopped serving alcohol during dinner. The CH was some carrot sticks and dip and the 'bartenders' would only serve you if you tipped them.

All of the other weddings really tie for the best

1- Cheesiest was FH's friend from Grad school...The cocktail hour was just cheese & crackers & nothing else...Even the dinner was not that much...We had to stop at the diner on the way home...The music was horrible too!

2-The best was my cousin's at North Hills CC...He went above & beyond on every expectations...The food was exceptional & the band was amazing...FH & I still talk about it & hope people feel the same about ours

OMG!!! HOW COULD A WEDDINGRAN OUT OF WINE/BEER thats horrible.

Cheesiest for me would be a friend of mine a few years ago at villa lombardi's. i love frank sinatra, but like every 2 songs was from ole blue eyes. how many times can u listen to a slow song from the same person. needless to say, not to many on the dance floor. good thing they didn't run out of wine/beer

best was my cousin's in 2003. it was at the hamlet in hauppauge. from CH to saying goodnight it was amazing. everybody was on the floor the entire night and the food was awesome.

Re: 'HersDay' Question of the Day

Cheesiest wedding: I don't want to say cheesy exactly but, I guess disappointing. I don't know. It had to be a friends where dinner was cold cuts and meatballs from a crockpot that they actually ran out of, we were giving the dj cds to play because his selection was limited, and keg beer was it for alcohol. It was good to see my girlfriends but man, if you have to leave a wedding hungary that's not cool.

Best wedding: Hmm a tie between a friend from college who actually had it in PA also but did such a good job with all of the details. It was actually in a refurbished barn, where hers was the first event there, she had a country theme right down to the lantern centerpieces and flower seed favors. She had a great DJ so the dance floor was packed and the party was like 7 hours because they had the place to themselves. The other was my aunts wedding out at Gurneys. Such a beautiful weekend and I love a beach theme.

Re: 'HersDay' Question of the Day

I have never been to a cheesy wedding. However I have been to some bad ones. One of the worsts was a commitment ceremony during the month of Nov in a Queens catering hall. The couple refused to serve alcohol, which was fine. However the food (turkey, mashed potatoes, and carrots) was so cold and indedible. The second worst was in May 2003 at a LI catering hall. While the hall was beautiful, the food was horrible! The couple had to throw the wedding together quickly. No one at the table at the food for dinner. We all ended up going out to a diner afterwards.

Best wedding- actually, most of the weddings I have been to have been good. I was a BM for a friend who got married in Indiana. The wedding was one of the classiest I have ever been to. Everything was done by candlelight.

The cheesiest -- my second cousin's wedding at the Milleridge. Not the place itself, but the fact that the couple did not have any alcohol!! Dang, spring for some wine at least!!

The best -- believe it or not, my favorite wedding was at the Brentwood Country Club - food was great and the DJ got everyone of the floor. I had the most fun at that one.

None - I've only been to two weddings as an adult (I am one of the first in my circle to get married) and both were lovely.

2. BEST wedding you've ever gone to
Last August. It was a traditional chinese wedding and the food was awesome. It was in really nice private room (for 200!) in a restuarant.

Hahaha, the one in Manhattan? Don't laugh, but I've actually been there before. Not for a wedding though, for a school event (we were working on a project with Con Ed). The food there was surprisingly good. I remember the shrimps for the shrimp cocktail were like the size of my fist!

Re: 'HersDay' Question of the Day

Cheesiest...I was in a wedding a few years ago..don't want to say where. The DJ gave out sunglassess and air guitars..which IMO is very sweet sixteen and played the Electric Slide...and every stupid song like that. It just had an air of tackiness throughout the whole reception!

BEST- My cousin got married at the Floral Terrace..It was just sooo awesome. They are such a nice couple and everyone felt involved in the reception (which my FI pointed out) the place was so nice and the food was excellent and they offered seconds too!!
