Hey, I'm new to the site.

Hey,

I just recently got engaged on December to my boyfriend of 3 years, Jason. He proposed while putting up our Christmas tree. He is amazing. We're looking into getting married in Nassau county and I'm just looking into what I have to do lol. I've only been to one wedding and i'm basically lost.

Help?!?

First of all, welcome and congrats!

The first things you should do are get together a rough guest list and budget. This will give you an idea of how much you will be able to spend per person at the reception hall and for things like flowers and your dress. From there, check out the reception halls listed on here. They have them listed with price range, max number of guests, how many events can take place at once, etc. Mark off the places you like and go check them out in person! Good luck! Start with something simple! Like, where's your favorite vacation spots and colors? If you use that as a starting point it'll help figure out what direction you want to go in!

Celia....this site is a lot of help. I have been to many weddings but I guess I never really thought about what it takes to get to the actual wedding. The burls here are all so helpful.

Congrats! I got engaged almost a month ago and all we have done is pick the date we hope to have and make a guest list. Enjoy being engaged!! If you are looking at 2013 we have lots of time.

Like someone else said get a preliminary guestlist and budget together. Also figure out the time of year you want to get married. But before you do all this, just take some time to enjoy being engaged.

Welcome and congrats!! I would have a budget before you start looking at venues. Also, figure out what kind/style of the wedding you want. We wanted something as much outside as possible with a view so it narrowed down all the venues..

I have only been to 1 wedding too, so this site is a huge help!!

I would say 1st pick a date. Then, like the other ladies said work on budget and # of guests. Some people wait to pick a date but I felt confident in making plans only when I knew when the wedding was...it made it easier to picture it because of time of year, how long I have, etc.

Welcome to the site and congrats! As others have said, take some time to enjoy the engagement - it all goes by so quickly, it's wonderful to have time to just enjoy the moment

Definitely set your budget + estimated guest list before you go to look. A lot will depend on that. Then go look at an RH. We had an estimated date set in our mind, but that all changed based on availability of the RH - so keep that in mind and be flexible. Once you have the date w/ the RH booked, then you can start looking at other things - photographer/videographer, flowers, etc...etc.

I'm planning the whole thing in about 6 months - so if you have until 2013, definitely take your time to enjoy the process.

Definately start out with setting a budget, putting together a guest list and figuring out what time of year you'd like to get married....once that's set you can start hall shopping....good luck!!!

Welcome!!! Stick with the girls on this site....so helpful. First - figure out a budget and about how many guests. Go look at a million halls until you find the one that is perfect for you!
