I am from the '09 board but I figured I'd post this here. I figured most of you have ordered your dresses and in the process of having fittings. Your help is appreciated! I copied this from the '09 board.
So, as many of you know / do not know, I ordered my Jim Hjelm dress from there (Bridal Reflections) I am a size 2 normally but I have a thyroid problem so who knows what I'll be next year. I ordered my dress. They ordered me a 4. I am a little scared because what if I get it in and it's too tight? I don't want to have to go crazy to fit into this dress. So, I called Bridal Reflections- lady was a little nasty on the phone. I told her I had called Saturday and someone was supposed to call back and they didn't. Now, I am all worried. What if they f*ck up my dress? Why would they order something so fricken small in the first place? Aren't these places supposed to order the dress like 3 sizes bigger? What did you guys do if you ordered your dress? How big did the sizes go up from what you normally wear?

Re: Hey Ladies. I need your help.
Depending on the designer the dress size varies, usually wedding dresses run smaller than street clothes.
My consultant ordered it according to my measurement so it was the same size as my street clothes.

I think they did order it because they are waiting to hear back from the manufacturer. The lady told me she is not 100% sure that they can do it.

Yea, I was trying on an 8 which felt more like a 6. So when she took my measurements she ordered me a 6 which is really a 4. So, I think I would be happier if it was the size 8 because I don't know what could happen with my weight in a year, ya know?

Re: Hey Ladies. I need your help.
i would ask to speak to the manager... even if you already 'ordered' the dress, the dress will not be made until it is closer to your wedding day, unless they have your date wrong... Macys had my date wrong I ordered in April 07 and the dress came in Aug 07 and my date was Oct 08 LOL

Re: Hey Ladies. I need your help.
Well, when I called- she asked what my date was and she goes 'OH it's not April of this year?????' So, it is a very good possibility that they have the wrong date.
How long does it take for these dresses to come in usually?

I don't think that they placed your order yet and if they did - all I would say is wow. You're right though to keep on them even if they get a bit nasty with you - you are the customer! If anything ask to speak with a manager or owner- just be firm and persistent.
From my experiences it is very easy to take in a gown than to let out... with some gowns they have very little fabric in order to let the gown out on either side.
I ordered my gown (Maggie Sottero) with Lillette's in Baldwin- I reguarly wear a street size 24- just so happened that going by what my measurements were I could have ordered a size 22 but it would have been a tight squeeze - and the bridal consultant understood I wanted to be sure I would fit the gown. I ended up ordering the size 24 and when it came it fit me (of course with the right bra and girdle to help me) it only needed to be let out less than 1/4 of an inch on each side just to make sure that it lays correctly in the back. Other than that everything was perfect and I needed very little alterations.
HTH and Good Luck!

i would think you can change your size. My dress is actually bigger than my normal size because of my boobs...
