FH is rather close with his aunt. His mom never really that much she is in the picture but has never played a huge supportive role emotionally if you know what I mean but his aunt has. I need some ideas about what would be a good way to show his appreciation for his aunt at the reception without throwing either one of them under the bus so to speak. Any ideas? TIA

hmmm... at the reception i'm not too sure. ceremony maybe? not sure what kind you're having but you could have her play a role in that (e.g. reading, ushering, handing out things)

I think including her in the ceremony is a nice way to recognize her, maybe you can give her a reading to do? I think if you include her in the reception in some way, like for her to dance with FH, that may throw his mom under the bus a little and look bad for her.

Can he dance with her to a special song, but not have the DJ announce it?

I don't know the official name of this, but I know a lot of weddings that hand out roses to the moms during the ceremony...you can hand one to FH's aunt?

I went to a wedding recently where he danced with the mom and then the DJ announced that there was another special woman we was going to dance with. He then danced part of a song with his aunt.

what does this mean have her escorted down the aisle? Do i have to have his mom and my stepmom escorted down too? who escorts them??

Re: hey ladies need a little help with something...
Typically groomsmen or brothers do it and his mom should be escorted too. They are just walked to their seat before all the bridesmaids start walking down the aisle and the ceremony official starts. That's what I have seen

I would definitely dedicate a song to her and have a special dance. If not right after the mother / son dance, designate a later time. But if she's played a mother like role to him, she should be recognized. Very sweet of him to acknowledge that.
