Is this going to just make the situation worse? My mom expects me to jump when she calls and I try to only on the things that I see as 'dealbreakers'. I know your parents are being insensitive, but would it be easier to get them off your back on this one and then stand your ground on something else? If it were my dad he'd have the computer in pieces - is your dad the same? Thinks he can fix what he can't, b/c if that is the case then I'd go over there and fix it just to save your investment.

In thinking this over I'd say tell them to call Gateway if it is that urgent.
