Hi All ! Anyone have there reception at BVYC ?

hi - im new and checking palces out ... I love BVYC I was wondering if anyone has had or attended a wedding here - possiably in late September? Or if anyone has more ideas for a by the water wedding in the western south shore area .... Thanks allott .
I could also use some photographer help any one in Nassau County who is totally not cheesy at all .. and will not follow us around like a little dictator the whole time I want every pic after the cocktail hour to be candid .. got any suggestions ?

Never been to a wedding at the Bridgeview, so can't really respond to that, but you may also want to check ou the Riviera in Massapequa or John Anthony's in Babylon. They are both on the water too.

For photography, I think that we are going with Creative Compositions but they are very traditional (aka will follow me around).... I would totally recommend for you Mark Kauffman-- focuses on candid photojournalistic photography without interference. Haven't heard about the venues here- getting married in Rye, NY. Sorry about that.

Yes ...have you ever been to a tasteing there or been to a wedding there? I met with Mike in the summer to get a n idea of price and I love it there ( the atmosphere) but wanted a outside opinion before I book.
By the way Congartulations on May are you getting nervous?

I am getting married there to 8/16/03. I went for a tasting in OCtober and the food was amazing. I had seen like 6 other plces and BVYC was the last one I saw. I booked the same day. We knew it was the place immediately. FM me if you have any questions.

Also my photographer is in Great Neck - Full View Studios. I got a pretty good deal...I think

OK I cant spell as you can see in the above post - I just want to make sure this is going to be the right place and wanted to get honest opinions from people - how many people are you having? Buffet or sit down? How are you having the room set up ?
Are you leaving the outside bar opened (the one right outside the tent before the cocktial room) - Mike said he dosent like to because everyone stays outside but I have a llott of smokers and I want them to be able to get a drink and relax, b/c I dont want smoking in the tent - Im a smoker too so i want a drink while I smoke too... selfish

I am having about 200 people. Its going to be a sit down. I am having round tables set up all around the tent. My cocktail hour is in the clubhouse typr building w/ the reception in the tent. The wedding is from 5-1030. We extended a 1/2 hour.

I am not having the bar open outside. I am going to put candles on it. I don't want it open because I don't want to end up having half the party outside.

Heard they do a nice wedding, I originally booked with them then cancelled. There was nothing wrong with it, I didnt like the time frame.

I have been to a wedding there in september of '01 - it was cool to be out at the bar on the water, not much stands out though after that long - good or bad!

OK - Im not some wacko from BVYC trying to get 'inside' info. I dont have a ott of time to post i'm a busy girl trying to keep my job! This planning can be all consuming. I just wanted to get some honest opinions before I put a ton of money down on a place where i've never attended an event.
This site is very helpful when I do get a little time to foucus on planning.

Thank you for your reply I was wondering what time frame problem you had you didn't like the time span they gave yo (ie 5- 10)?
Also how many people were you planning on having?

Stinker I didnt like the fact that the club opened at 11pm I thought for sure they would rush us out.

MY date was for a sat in june and if Im paying over $100 per head, I wanted the wedding till midnight.

Hi. First of all welcome to the boards!!

I went a cocktail hour at the BVYC. My sisters good friend got married there in July and we went to the cocktail hour to check it out. I thought the food was very good (espcially the baby lamb chops I LOVED). My sister said the rest of the food during the night was good too (especially the sea bass she said). I also know of other people that have been there and have nothing but good things.

Mike is a good friend of my brothers from HS. He is so sweet!! We almost booked there but at the last minute saw John ANthonys on the water and loved it. They offered us more for our $$ thats shy we went there.

The room OUtside is beautiful and very spacious (and I like that there are bathrooms in there and two bars). It is also great that they have 1 party at a time (thats one thing JAs doesn't have).

Be aware of two things though 1. If you have it in the summer they do rush you b/c of the club. 2. My sister said that at her friends wedding A LOT of people were lost outside (smoking) She said 1/2 of the party was outside the WHOLE night. Other than that the place is terrific....Good Luck!!

Never been to Bridgview but I know a great photographer- Grey Studios in Floral Park. They're great! Good Luck!
