hi from Great Britain x

Hi girls I'm very new to this site and have a couple of questions.

I live In Great Britain and am planning to get married in your great city next July.

However I have no idea how to start planning ot from this side of the pond. Any ideas?

welcome! First determine what kind of party you want...Church wedding? Married at the reception place? How many people invited?

Congrats! We are certainly here to help.

well we were thinking about Central Park as we got some brochures from our travel agent and it looks gorgeous.

congrats to you! where in england do you live? i lived in oxford for a year and loved it.
there are lots of pretty places to get married in central park such as the boat house and the swiss cottage. there are also three botanical gardens in the city that are equally pretty (brooklyn, bronx, and queens).

I live in Kent place called Dartford although I doubt you've ever heard of it.

As for where we haven't decided yet as I've never been to NYC before in fact never been to America before so I have no idea what these places look like. At the moment I'm having to go by pictures only.

You must take a trip here and take a look. Are you sure you want to have it in the city? Maybe Long Island would be ok too-lots of choices and lots of beautiful places to see.

I hadn't thought about long island really as we'll all be staying in NYC anyway. Is Long Island far from New York City.

Sorry if i sound a bit thick but I really have no idea.

it's not far but if you are all going to be in NYC then you should probably stay in NYC since it will be less hassle transportation wise.

hmmm if everyone is staying in NYC, then i'd probably have the venue in NYC. i've never been to a wedding in nyc, but i'm sure the girls here could give you lots of great suggestions!!!

I think if you are going to plan a wedding in the US you should definately do-it-up in NYC. You should take a trip here and see for yourself. If I were you I'd get a wedding coordinator. You're going to love New York!!!!

Welcome to LIW!!! Congratulations on your engagement!!!!! We're glad to have you!!

You should send a Forum Mail (green button at the top of your screen) to Awhite80. She lives here in the states but I know her fiance lives in England. Maybe she could help you out, or at least make you feel more at home here!
