Hi Ladies-- Option for your FAVORS

Hi Girls,

For all of you that are thinking about having Donation Scrolls for your favors there is a Long Island organization that is now participating in this important trend.

My only brother and sibling Jason suffered from severe depression and anxiety for about 10 years. My parents of course did everything they could for him and he tried every treatment that was available. Unfortunately, his mental illness became unbearable and he ended his life on 11/29/2000 when he was 25 years old.

Mental illness is still unfortunately viewed by some as a taboo illness because you cannot see physical symptoms as you would in cases of cancer, stroke etc. Sometimes people have a hard time understanding why someone just can't be happy. They don't understand the chemicals in the brain are not working properly, therefore rendering the person unable to just make themselves 'happy', etc....

I wanted to memorialize Jason on my wedding day and contacted the Suffolk County Mental Health Association to discuss possible scroll donation favors. They had not heard of this idea and became very interested in participating. They are creating the scrolls based on my wishes and printing them for me as well. I am donating $2.00 per scroll and can't be more excited about how this is working out..They are very accomodating and are very excited about adding this to their donation options.

So basically I just wanted to let you all know that this is an option. If you have been effected by Mental Illness in any way and are looking for a wonderful organization to donate to for your favors, the Suffolk County Mental Health Association is a solid organization whose goal is to truly bring awareness, services and help to those directly or indirectly effected by mental illness.

If this is something you are interested in, this is their contact information..

Kim, I'm so saddened to hear about your Brother, Jason. What you're doing is wonderful. As a nurse, my heart always went out to the patients, with mental illness. Debi's Sister, Donna, had a very dear friend, who killed himself. I remember the day, he stood in our garage, helping Donna move, and wished a thousand times, I had known what he planned to do. He was such a sweet kid.
for you and your family. Love, Mary MOB
