Are migranes while pregnant considered a sign of preeclampsia?
My friend is pregnant, and has been suffering from very bad migranes, at least 1 a week. She never had them before she was pregnant. She refuses to go to her doctor for it, and thinks that it is just a matter of reducing her vitamin dosage. The girl is practically self-medicating. I am very nervous for her, and I want to do something to convince her to talk to her doctor about it.
She had a miscarriage about a year ago, and I think she's fearful of the doctor telling her it might happen again. I am not even sure the two situations are related, but I really think the miscarriage is the root of her fear.
Any words of advice?

Re: Hi ladies - question for you...
I haven't heard of that as a symptom but I'm no expert just yet!
I've had pretty bad headaches while PG, but not migraines. I think the best thing for her to do is call or see her dr. There are just too many reasons that it could be, it's impossible for her to know the cause.

i am unfortunately...an expert....
Headaches are one of the symptoms, along with high blood pressure, severe swelling, high protein in the urine, spotty or blurred vision. You may or may not have all of these symptoms. You may have one. You may have all...you get the idea.
How far along is she and why would she think pre-eclampsia? Because a lot of women have headaches during pregnancy.
ETA: Pre-eclampsia is NO JOKE. Once I was diagnosed with this, the symptoms only intensifed and I was induced within 24 hours. The complications during the labor were life threatening for both me and the baby. She should definitely contact her doctor immediately to rule this out. But that said, headaches can be a symptom of other things as well.

I would say if the migraines are happening often, then she should call her doctor.
I suffered one very bad migraine during my pregnancy and my OB wanted to see me immediately. I was vomitting and couldn't see (blurred vision). It was awful! I didn't eat for 36 hrs and I felt so bad for the baby But, it was worse on me.
One of the things the OB wanted to rule out was pre-eclampsia.
