Is anyone from Hicksville - how is the area as far as houses go (how $$)? Is it a very busy-congested area, and how about the commute to NYC? How about the schools? A real estate agent friend wants to show us a house here. We are from Queens and unfamiliar with the area. Thanks!!

Re: Hicksville
as with all places, it depends on what part of town you go to....

Re: Hicksville
tell me where the house is that you'll be looking at, and i'll tell you if it's familiar & what the conditions are....

Re: Hicksville
I do not have the address yet - but it is supposed to be near the LIRR, which we want since my husband works in Manhattan. So, from what you said Hicksville has nice and not-so-nice areas?

Re: Hicksville
every place does.... not that they're shady or anything like that... more like - i don't know... dirtier? you have some houses that are rented out & can be inundated w/lots of dirty people - know what i mean?

Re: Hicksville
don't get me wrong.... hicksville has some really nice houses - we have one that is one of the oldest in town (and when it was constructed - that section of houses were the largest ones in town w/the largest properties - even now), and we own another home right off of Old Country Road.... so, it all depends. if you like, when you get the name of the street, FM it to me, and I'll do a drive-by. Hicksville isn't too big!

Thanks for the offer - I'll see if we wind up looking at it - being from Queens, Hicksville is a bit further than we wanted to go. I knew someone that used to live in Hicksville - I think on Miller Rd.?, and her house was very nice, so that is why I thought to check out the area.

Re: Hicksville
Annie ... This area is very appealling for a lot of reasons. The train is easily accessible, shopping, everything at your fingertips.

Re: Hicksville
also appealing because your also part of the Town of Oyster Bay...so you get rights to all those included...
Hickville is a nice area.. the schools aren't bad.. it depends on where it is.. the commute is roughly 40 minutes and they have a main line that runs out of there.. there's also a shopping mall there, Ikea, and alot of others..

Re: Hicksville
the reason why I like it so much is because it feels like it's the midpoint between the city & points out east.... maybe it's just me......
