high expectations???

Do you ever feel like being on this site has set very high expectations for your wedding and your vendors???? A couple of dissapointments happened at my wedding and I am not sure if I should be really turned off by this vendor...or if i should just shrug it off...since i had a such a great time at my wedding....

any thoughts???

On the one hand I think this website did raise my expectations to an unrealistic level and there were a few disappointments...but I also think that these vendors cost a LOT of money and we should get all that we expect from them...just my thoughts...not very conclusive though...So you mind me asking what happened???

Most defintely...but we actually lucked out with all of our vendors.....I think there are high expectations for everything....every DIY project etc....but you know what my guests were wowed by it all because they had never seen menus, a mongram cake topper or anything like that

Yes, this site definitely pumpss up our expectations. The reason is because every picture that brides' post look perfect, every vendor that is raved about seems like the best. So, when we believe other people had these perfect experiences, we get sad for ourselves. I think that no one's wedding was 'perfect.' It's impossible because there are too many factors to be aware of. I think if we get 95% perect we're in luck. As long as you were happy the day of, it's probably the most important. Btw, what happened?

Re: high expectations???

I was upset with a couple of my vendors the day of my wedding as well BUT, since everyone told me what a great time they had at the wedding and how smooth and beautiful everything worked out, I decided to hold my tongue and wait it out. Sure enough, as time passed, I felt less and less resentment and got over it. The things that I stressed right before the wedding did not mean anything to me a couple of months later...

My advice to you is wait it out and see how you feel in a couple of months.

Re: high expectations???

Most of us have dreamt about our wedding day since we could talk, and I think that plays into the expectation level more than this website.

I had very high expectations, some vendors, like my DOC, (Dazzling Affairs) my DJ (High Voltage Sounds) and my limo company (Serenity) exceeded them, others like my RH (East Wind) and photographer (Velvet Studio) met them, others fell a bit below (my florist - not a vendor on this site) and for others the jury is out (videographer - Wild Rose).

I completely understand. I think this website raised my expectations but it also made me more aware of what to ask for with each of my vendors. I was very dissapointed with my makeup & limos (in my review) and I felt that I was too unrealistic for what I paid and wanted. I paid a lot of money for each of my vendors (except my limos & tuxes) and want what I paid for, as simple as that.

i definitely think that we spend a ridiculous amount of money and we SHOULD get what we pay for; there's nothing wrong with wanting that... however, i definitely think that our own ideas in dreaming of this day since we were little... as well as this website... raise our expecations a great deal. i love this website; i definitely learned sooo much, got so much advice, so many ideas, knew so much more what to look for and ask for, but at the same time i think it can make you have unrealistic expectations in some aspects
