Is that a precaution due to holiday travel,,,or do you think the government knows something?

Right before 9-11 that weekend I had a dream that we were walking aroun in the city and I saw a bomb coming down on us from the sky. All I said was 'God help us' then I woke up before it hit. Scary.

It could be something. Patrick has been put on mandatory 12 hour overtime, and they only do that when there is a reason.

As some of you know, my brother is active duty National Guard and is stationed near Albany right now. He was supposed to have leave this weekend for Christmas and the leave has been revoked. He also put in a leave request (which was originally approved) for next weekend for my e-party and he is told that it may not be honored now. He says that there is currently alot movement happening and they're reassigning people to different units in preparation....for what? We don't know. Two of his friends (in different units) have already received verbal 'warning' that they may be deployed within the next 6 months. This is all very scarey!

They raised the alert not due to a threat against the country but to some chatter they heard about attackes against americans, which could mean anywhere in the world. Due to the holiday time and to the capture of Saddam its only natural that they want to be on extra quard just in case. They raised the alert last year around Christmas and New Years as well.

Our police force and anti terrorism units in NY are one of the best and I have no worries. If they know something they will respond in a quick and efficient manner.

And I agree, don't say anything about Disney I'm going in January too!!!

i agree, but let's just hope they know in time. i'm trying not to worry but it's hard. i'm glad i don't have to fly home this year.

When they first raised it I was watching one of those news stations(CNBC maybe) They said that they have been getting a lot of threats. No place in particular but that the damage will be comparable or worse than Sept 11. The newcasters said Al Queda is doing this to show we may have Saddam but they have not lost, we do not have them. They said the president wanted to raise the level Sat but didn't want to make people crazy so he waited. Sunday he felt he had to do it. This morning I heard them say that there were report they would use foreign airlines to attack the US.

Who knows. They get threats all the time and unfortunately who knows what is real and what is not. I think they wanted to make people extra cautious during the holidays fearing thats when they may attack. I was at the mall yesterday and saw more police than I have ever seen at the mall. I guess it's a little comforting. Just everyone beware of what goes on around you and have a Happy Holiday
