Hired help for engagement party

We're throwing a small engagment party at home this summer but I'm not having my party catered (well unless you consider my mother a caterer!) and I want to hire people just to deal with the clean up, setting up the food, possibly playing bartender. Does anyone know how I go about finding people to do this?

Re: Hired help for engagement party

i have a number at home of a woman we have used for countless parties. she is a teacher full time and does parties on the side. her name is sheila and she is a one-woman MACHINE. she waitresses and hands everything out, cleans up, sets up, gets everything out (goes from apps to dinner to dessert) and before you know it: everything is done and you didn't even have to worry about it! she is wonderful. and the house looks like we never even had people over after-- she makes it spotless!

unfortunately, i have the number at home and i won't be able to get it until tonight. if you want the number, just FM me a reminder and i'll write you back with it. we have only used her because that's all we needed (she does the job of three!!) but she does have friends that she teams up with when people have very large parties so i'm sure she can recommend another person she can bring along for bartending and/or more serving and clean-up help. she's a sweetheart!! hth!!!

Re: Hired help for engagement party

Hi ladies, I was going to post the same question!

The resaurant where we are ordering some of the food gave us a name, they charge $150 each, plus tip. Is that the going rate?

And I was wondering, for about 70 people do you need 1 person or 2? They told us we really need to hire both people.

This is the first time we are considering hiring help. It seems expensive, but I really want to enjoy my daughter's party and not spend the day in the kitchen or picking up after everyone!

Any input appreciated!
