His Last name or Keeping Mine

personally i hate my last name. it's really difficult to pronounce and i have bad feelings toward my father...so i am fine with taking his name. but i can understand how it might be hard for someone who likes their name, feels that it makes them who they are, and wants to keep it.

i think if you really feel strongly about it, maybe you should talk to your fh. how strongly does he feel about you taking his name? will he compromise in any way?

I really don't care about changing my name though it will really confuse people. I will have a chinese last name and I am totally this irish girl

You took the words right out of my mouth. My name is hard to pronounce and I am a teacher, so it stinks and I love fh's last name, and I really dont like my dad. So my decision was simple

its personal preference.. you dont 'have' to... im going to i love the idea of having my husbands name! its exciting to me!

me too!

I dont really want to just because for the past 21 years I've had my last name. Plus mine is short and easier and his is long Greek so people screw it up sometimes. But I know I'll get over it....even if it takes a few years! Im going to be the person that 5 years into the marriage, still slips every once in awhile and signs or says her maiden name!

same here...at first i didnt want his last name its such a common last name but now that my father is finally out of my life i cant wait to take his name!

but im not! haha so im gonna go with his bc ive had mine for nearly 27 yrs when we get married...change is good. i love my name but i also love his....

i actually really love both of our new last names!!!!!

not that i dont like our old ones but you know what i mean!!!

I'm taking his last name.
