we want to spend a night or 2 in a bed and breakfast in long island in nov after the wedding since we have to wait 2 weeks to go to costa rica. we don't want to travel too far- that's why we aren't going to the poconos or something upstate.
does anyone have some suggestions in long island- maybe out east?

this is exactly what we did!! DH wanted to go to a festival in Spain that he used to go from the time he was young...so we postponed our HM by 1 month...
it was really perfect...the views were great...the premises were awesome...and it was so quiet (even in the summer) I highly recommend it!!

That is what we are doing sort of. Fh is a teacher so we are getting married in March, 2004 and going to spend the night at The Marriott, then off for a few days to Atlantic City we got a great deal thru thru AAA, then in July we are going on a cruise to Tahiti. We were going to do The Poconos, but the drive seemed overwhelming after spending the past few days before the wedding running around crazy, we are not big gamblers but plan on seeing some shows and just relaxing. How about Gurney's Inn?

Take a ride out to the Northfork....there are very nice b&b out there.

Gurneys out east - it is beautful! Plus, the fall is such a nice time of year out east.

I just did a review of our stay at Gurneys on the Newlywed board, you may want to read it... also, depending on where you're coming from a trip to Montauk could take 2+ hours.

I think that Montauk might be a little cold in Nov. What about Port Jefferson they have some cute B&B's or Stony Brook has some nice B&B's I also hear great things about Gurneys.

Check out the Three Village Inn in Stony Brook. They have cute cottages on the water. We are staying there our wedding night. Their website is threevillageinn.com

the american hotel in sag harbor is lovely
the 1708 house in southampton is nice, but maybe a bit pricey
