My new dilemma (and maybe for other Sept briedes) is that it is peak hurricane season for all Carribean and Tropical locations in Sept-Oct. I was thinking of postponing the HM til Novemeber and just taking a mini weeeknd HM after the wedding to like Vermont or something. How does that sound???????

Re: HM Dilemma???
If the caribbean is where you really want to go for your Hm, then that's the way to go. We went to Florida (in Sept) and had to cut our HM short by a few days for that reason. New England is beautiful that time of year.

Re: HM Dilemma???
I speak for Miro127, Aruba does not have hurricanes at any time.
edit: FYI, that was my FH who jumped in and responded w/o me even knowing it!

Re: HM Dilemma???
Hi curly, keep in mind that November is still 'officially' part of hurricane season in the Caribbean.
Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao are outside of the hurricane belt. Also, I've heard that the further south you go (like Grenada, Trini/Tobago), the less likely a hurricane will strike during the season.
If you decide to go during this time, you may want to look into buying trip interruption insurance. I've never bought it-been to the islands a number of times during season without a problem-we just lucked out.
Have fun planning! I looked forward to the HM as much as I did the wedding!!!

Re: HM Dilemma???
Thanks ladies!!
Maybe I should have been more specific. I actually want to go to Belize or Brazil or Costa Rica where they do have hurricane season. Do you suggest it now??
Thanks!!

Re: HM Dilemma???
Curly, Didn't EvelynTorres postpone her trip to Belize for the same reason? She waited just a couple of weeks to go on her official honeymoon and still had an amazing time. I don't see whats wrong with that.

DOnt worry about it! As a former travel agent I can assure you the odds of you hitting a hurricane on your HM are slim. I've been to every island in the caribbean during hurricane season and never had a storm. IF by some chance you do have a hurricane on your HM, majority of resorts and hotels offer you a free stay whenever you like.

Re: HM Dilemma???
Good memory. She did Kathy. That's actually where I got the idea but I'm sooooooo torn between leaving right away and chancing it or playing it safe and delaying it. She had a great time but I don't know what to do. I have time but I am a 'booking' freak, LOL!!!!!!

Re: HM Dilemma???
Curly...If it was me I would just book it for right after. The girls are right...the chances are really low. You still have some time...just think it over and talk to your FH.

Re: HM Dilemma???
JMO- I would do a mini-HM and then my dream HM when it was a better time. For one, you get two HMs that way and you don't risk the weather. Why chance it? What is the benefit of that?

Re: HM Dilemma???
Call me CRAZY (and I'm probably jinxing myself here b/c I'll be going on a HM at the beginning of Sept.) but I think a hurricane would be kind of romantic..you get to stay in bed all day..as long as your hotel wasn't going down

Aruba, Aruba, Aruba.... The island is outside the hurricane belt... We went in October and the weather was incredible!
Bonaire and Curacao are outside the hurricane belt as well.....
