We really wanted to go to South Africa but the TA told us it's not going to be warm enough out at that time of year to do some of the things we want to do. Do we pick somewhere else or wait until it's warmer down there to go on our HM???

ooooh i don't know! on one hand, i feel like you won't have many opportunities to go to South Africa, but on the other hand, you'll need a honeymoon after the wedding...
maybe you should look into other destinations and see if you can really get behind one of them. if not, hold out for SA!

wait. if you plan to spend a big chunk of change, do it the right way. plus how many time are you going to go there.
we are doing this. we are going to mexico for a few nights in dec after the wedding as a minimoon. we are doing the big honeymoon the following summer... land-cruise tour of alaska. (you obviously can't cruise there in december!) that way we will be able to do and see the things we want (re: helicopter landing on glacier!).
do yourself a favor though and BOOK the trip and dont put it off...less likely you will bail on yourself and never take that golden honeymoon.

Re: HM disappointment...
What kind of stuff would you have to skip b/c of the weather?
Like the others said, I would possibly wait. Although, SA requires a big chunk of time. Can you take that time at another point?

I'd go somewhere else, I fell like when you wait its just a vacation, not really a honeymoon. jmo.

Re: HM disappointment...
FH & I are going to Italy for our HM, a few weeks back we thought due to we wouldnt be able to go. We discussed and decided that Italy was what we wanted & we would wait a few weeks or months to make it happen. We were planning to go away for 4 days to cape cod for a mini moon. In the end we were able to make it work but , honestly if it meant waiting some extra time in order to have our dream vacation, then thats what we were willing to do!
Good luck

Re: HM disappointment...
We could definitely do a minimoon now... I just have to make FH book both at the same time. We travel a lot so I don't think he'll mind I'm just worried about it not seeming honeymoon-ish if we wait.

Re: HM disappointment...
DH and I waited 2 1/2 months before our honeymoon and it still felt like a honeymoon, and the staff knew we were on our honeymoon so we got the honeymoon breakfasts in our suite and stuff like that. It was actually kinda nice to wait because it gave us something to look forward to and we didn't have to rush to get ready for it right after the wedding. If you really wanna go there, I say wait!

Re: HM disappointment...
I'd wait. We're taking a 'mini-moon' cruise to Bermuda, but we'll be taking a longer 14 day cruise in September which will be our actual honeymoon.
