Okay girls, sorry if this is a bit long...but i need advice!
So we were going to go to London and Paris for our HM...flights are booked london hotel is booked....but as we are adding things up, its getting to be SOOOO expensive! we are at 5,500 already without food and spending money....so now the delemia is, do we cancel Europe( would loose 400 on the flights) and go on a small honeymoon now like a 4 night cruise or something, and use the 5K for a Down payment on the house we want (see other post) or go to europe anyway...
ive wanted to go my whole life, but now i find myself wanting a house more then anything else
words of wisdom!?

Re: HM help!!
I know it's a HUGE expense but it's your once in a lifetime. Think about it. Once you have the house and have the kids, you aren't going to have any money to see Paris until after the kids are out of college. This is what they make credit cards for. Just my opinion but I think you should stick with what you have. You're going to have an amazing time. I did the London and Paris trip in September and I can't wait to go back. Good luck!!!!

Hmm I would have to go with the house. Is there a way you can still have a nice honeymoon without having to completely sacrifice it and still have more money to put towards the house?

Sounds like you know what you want to do with the money My dream trip would have been to Italy but I quickly realized we did not have the money to go so we will hold off on that for a couple of years!
Personally I would much rather have a house than a trip to Europe.

Re: HM help!!
The trip will last a few days a house will last a lifetime. I say the down payment and a small HM that you BOTH will love not just one of you. Then maybe for your first anniversary you can get to Europe.

Let me play devil's advocate here:
once you buy the house, you'll have so many other expenses (repairs, furniture, insurance, etc) and you will continue to put off your dream vacation to Europe.
Can you scale down the trip a bit?

we have most of the stuff already, furniature, its a built to order home with warrenty so we shouldnt have to worry about repairs for a while, and the ins is about 56 a month.
the trip is already using my travel agent discount...the exchange is just sooo horrible

Ehhhhh I would use the money for the house and go the Europe some other time! You can go on a great honeymoon for way less money!

Re: HM help!!
IMO a house is more important than a big wedding OR a HM. I'd cancel, lose the 400-, go on a less expensive HM and go house shopping to celebrate!

Re: HM help!!
Thats a tough decision. For the fact that your FH is just going to make you happy, I would not go to Europe. Fh was just going to do a cruise to make me happy, but we are working it out to where we can go on a cruise and to Atlantis because thats where he wants to go.
I would honeslty save it towards your down payment. How much do you want to spend on a cheaper HM...
Just remember, even though you may not go to Europe on your HM, doesnt mean you'll never go. Maybe you can do it for your year anniversary

Re: HM help!!
maybe scale back on the europe trip - why do both england and france just do one? If dh and i were remotely near having the money to buy a house and 5-8k was the diff to having a home or a vaca we would pick the home.

Re: HM help!!
I dont know if you thought about taking a European Cruise but I saw a rate of $1200 for a 12 day Mediterrean and that was an oceanview- maybe do that, it will be cheaper, all food and you'll just have to pay for excursions

Re: HM help!!
You only get one hm - maybe you'll just have to budget the food a bit when you are there- hit the pub for dinner a few nights and a really nice dinner only 1 or 2 nights. Check out Rachel Rays $40 a day for some tips ...The house you posted is beautiful and you will have it too !!
