We are supposed to go to Jamaica on our honeymoon next month and I have heard from a few people that there is a drug war going on there. I called up sandals to see what was going on and they said everything is fine and not to worry. We have to pay our balance by this Friday. Do you ladies think we should look into going somewhere else or go to Jamaica everything will be fine?
I heard that you should only stay on the resort when youre there .. but Im not too sure. Sorry! Ive never been. Good luck!
jamaica is one of those places that you just can't leave your resort pretty much b/c of the poverty and drugs.... unless its to go to like dunns river falls on an excursion. just stay inside the resort and you should be fine.
When we first booked we new of the poverty and drugs and that we should stay in the resort. But I heard the police are trying to catch a drug lord and that many people have been killed. Has anyone heard about this?

Yes, it's been all over the news. Especially in Kingston primarily. Where will you be? Maybe you should google some news concerning what area this is really all occuring before you pay your final deposit. My gut says you'll be find and you should go, but for peace of mine, just google to make sure.
You are totally fine. Kingston is not anywhere near Negril (I stayed at Couples Swept Away last year). They have amazing security at these resorts and even if you leave the area on an excursion, there should be security with you at all times.

I also stayed at Swept Away. When you are at one of these resorts it doesnt even seem like there is an outside world. Just double check on the shuttle getting you to your hotel, and im sure everything will be fine.
i've been to beaches negril (i think sandals is near here too) and honestly, u wont even want to leave the place! yes you could go on excursions but you should be good just by staying in the resort.
