HM help :) w poll

okies, so we were going to go to london and paris....we have hotel booked in london n flights....now, if we go to paris its 600 for the Eurostar, 460 for the hotel, plus admission to the attractions...so at least 1K for 2 days....FH is all upset about spending money so i started to do some reasearch and i was thinking of theses options..

1. Spend the whole time in London and just do local trips, ie roman baths, stonehedge, ect

2. Spend 250 each on the BritRail pass that lets us travel unlimited times for 5 days through England, Whales and Scotland and go up to Edinburgh for a day and Whales for a day and just book the hotel for 2 more days

3. Leave it alone and just got o paris and suck up the money

isn't london more expensive than paris. London is the most expensive place now, the pound is more than the euro. The pound right now is 1.96 to the us dollar

oh ok, well also remember spending money bc although you would save on accomodations in london you'll also spend more money there. So maybe try to compare the two. Compare the price difference you would save by staying only in london and not going to paris, and then also trying to figure out what you would spend in london. If spending would come out to even more than what you save by going to paris then maybe change it.

Wait... it's $600 for the Eurostar? That can't be right. It's a 2-hour train ride. When I lived in London, I went to Paris for the weekend a couple of times, and it was nowhere near that expensive. And they have all those budget airlines there too, with roundtrip flights for like $80, you could look into that.

Honestly, if it were my honeymoon, I'd want to go to Paris. I've been there 4 or 5 times, and it's just the most lovely, romantic place in the world. For a second option, I'd ditch the idea of the Britrail pass... I can't think of anywhere else in England worth spending too much time in on a honeymoon, Instead, if you want to stay in Britain, I'd choose a roundtrip train or flight (also might be cheaper) up to Scotland - it rivals Paris for 'lovely' and 'romantic.' Scotland might be the most gorgeous place I've ever been. It's generally more expensive than England though.

I don't think Paris should be counted out as an option. But if you can't, then Edinburgh, Scotland is WONDERFUL. And there are tons of tour companies that take you from there up to the Highlands (Loch Ness, etc. - so pretty!).

My FH convinced me that you only get to HM once and if you think in the future you'll regret gonig to paris then i say go for it. Down the line that extra 1000 or 2000 will get you tons of memories. It's a lot now but in the scheme of things it's not. I say go for it!

i love love love london, and for myself i would be completely content staying in england the entire time. but since it's your HM, and if paris is someplace you really really want to visit, i think you should go for it!! i think the HM is the one trip you take that should not have any limits on it, unless it'll absolutely put you in the poor house, or if you're not able to take enough time off of work (which doesn't seem to be the case for you). i say go for paris!!

My sister was having the same dilema. She booked London for 10 days. and wanted to take the train to Paris and they told her it was over $200 per person. and then the hotel as alot more also. So they decided not to do it as of right now. So I don't knaoa what they are going to do. 10 days in London is alot.

if you can afford to go to Paris, I say go for it...it's SOOO expensive to fly to Europe now, and I highly doubt that airfare to Europe will go down any time soon, so if you're already there, you might as well go to Paris.

I'd suck it up and go to Paris.

Your honeymoon = most romantic vacation of your lives.

Paris = most romantic city in the world.

It's a no-brainer.

I say Option number 3....Go to Paris as well, it's your Honeymoon!! You should definitely treat yourselves and go for it now, before you have kids...

I say if you can afford it, do what you have always wanted to do. My DH and I went to the Ice hotel in Sweden for our honeymoon. We both really wanted to see the Northern Lights and spent $500 on a snowmobile ride and a dinner consisting of chili and and sandwich. The Northern Lights were beautiful and looking back I couldn't have imagined a better way to spend the money!!
